A question about the 3/8" course threaded bolts that mount the timing chain cover and water pump assembly on my 401. Do these bolts thread into the water jacket and need to have sealer applied to them? If so, which ones?
Thank you,

The bolts are all in blind holes, they don't enter the water jacket. Be VERY careful on bolt length though, as you can damage the hole with too long of bolt and open it to the jacket.

A little more explanation is in order for some of use who have witnessed
water seepage and corrosion to those few fasteners, IIRC happens more on the
passenger side of the water pump and timing cover housing. The bolts
appear to be seeping coolant, they probably are, however it's not from
the bolt holes in the block going into the water jackets as tufcj stated, it's coming from a leaky seal between the water pump and the timing cover or past the gasket between the block and the timing housing. The coolant seeps into the bolt threads and will corrode a steel bolt. I always use antisieze when installing bolts into a cast iron or aluminum part. Except of course for headbolts they get lubed as per the TSM or bolt supplier like ARP.
