    Posted: Feb/24/2020 at 7:57pm
I am currently building a 68 American that I am doing a V8 4 speed swap, from the original 6. I want to run all new wiring, but my question is, do I get the harness for a 68 Rogue V8, that I believe was a 290 engine, (I am dropping in a 360 by the way) or do I need to maybe get the harness that is for the 69 SC? Or for that matter, is there even a difference? Wiring is definitely my weak spot. I know I can get all the harnesses from the AMC vendors, just need to know what will work. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

I swapped out a 199 to a 360 in my 69 Rambler.  Went to M&H Electrical for a quality AMC V8 reproduction wiring harness.  Excellent in my opinion.

I put a 360 in a 68 Rogue and rewired the whole car with a Painless #10101 harness for less than $300 delivered from Amazon. It has modern fuses and it works flawlessly.

Thanks for the info guys! I wasn't too sure if there were any subtle differences between different V8 engine sizes. I really love this forum.

I was looking at them on Amazon Tom, and I see that the #10101 is for the keyed column, But the #10102 is for the key in dash. Is yours a keyed column? The price sure is right. On sale for 250. Nice.

I don't know if you've pulled the trigger on anything yet, but if you're not looking for factory reproduction and are willing to do a universal harness, I've had good luck with Speedway Motors universal 22 circuit harnesses.  They're less than $200 and good quality wire for that ridiculously low price.  RebelWire also has very good harnesses for really good prices.

Oh, yea. I installed a later tilt column with the key and dimmer switch.

Totally agree with LakesideRamblin.  M & H has the best quality harnesses around for AMC.  Darrin has a width and breadth of harness knowledge that is scary..
