Please don't forget to compensate for the shrinkage of an aluminum casting.  And that's not so easy using a original as a pattern.

This "bondo bomb" is now wider and longer than it used to be. And sump is deeper than original. I used parts of 196 cid oil pan...

Don't forget to extend the oil pickut tube or you'll have uptake issues.

This is an awesome topic.  Cast aluminum is not an exact science.  It tends to have microscopic holes.  I think you idea will work, but, it wouldn't be bad to seal all the pans with epoxy or some other type of sealer.  Please keep this thread going as you progress.

You mentioned a deeper sump. Will the sump now hang below the crossmember? For drag racing that probably won't matter so much, but for a street car/road racing it will.
