i love Permatex Ultra Grey, but Permatex Right Stuff is incomparably superior to it as a gasket maker/sealer in most applications. they look the same externally but they are very different chemistry. Right Stuff is a PITA in that it's pricey, and you pretty much have to use thw whole thing in short order or it kicks in the can. i wish they made small (2 oz, etc) putups, even if expensive.

it's hard to explain what the stuff is like, but it's at once softer and stronger than Ultra Grey, which is HARD! and more adhesive.

i assembled an engine with Right Stuff -- eliminated every gasket except head and oil pump. no pan gasket, no side cover gaskets. it never leaked and 7 years later came apart just fine.

i wish partial cans lasted better.

i use a LOT of Ultra Grey, on the car for sure, but also for a lot of odd fabrication in electronics and plastics. mount glass with it. sealed a leaking plastic cooler. partially mounted a radiator. countless random stuff. but Right Stuff is a better gasket maker.

LubeLocker gasket, if they make it for the M12. I use one for the 998 and my rear diff. Never ever leak. Just follow the instructions.
