Trying to decide what transmission to use behind a 343 stroker. 343 with 304 crank so I can use 904-998, 727 or turbo 400 with Amc bell. I have access to all three. going into a 67 Rogue. I own the turbo, a friend has a free 904 0r 998 not sure which one and also has a couple 727 for sale. All will need to be gone thru.

The smaller TC trannies would be best to use. More efficient and will need some upgrades to make them stout for modified 343 or larger engine use.

I got a rebuilt th400 long ago, but was un impressed by the lack of heavy duty components, and ended up buying lots of better parts to make it worth while for my future build.

For the 727 only the HD version for 360 and 401 have the better components if wanting to take it out to the strip.

998 rebuilt with heavy duty guts.  It will fit in the American transmission tunnel much better than your other two options.
