If your Javelin was not originally equipped with torque links, which it likely wasn't, it's going to be a bit difficult. The frames were made with the threaded inserts in them. I think there was a dealer kit that made it possible to install the torque links if not originally equipped.

I was told you have to cut a "door" in the floor directly over the area the torque link mounts in the frame, and insert the backing plate into the frame where the link bolts to. Then bolt it up , and weld your "door' shut.

billd has a 70 javelin that was reto fitted with torque links. Seems there were pictures somewhere but I cant find them. PM him and I am sure he can point you to the pictures. Above i correct you need to cut the floor to slide inner plates inside the frame.

Somebody MAY have the diagram for installation in a Javelin too, since they were a Group 19 accessory for Javelins.

There are two ways to install in Javelin....early kit had a simple bolt through frame rail...but the tighter you make the bolt (forward), you crush the rail....  The later version cuts about a 4 by 12 inch holes in the floor and inserts a bracket very similar to factory AMX....but either way intrusive.   If anybody has a kit/direction etc to make repop, I would be interested to make available for all!!  I could help with bars, bolt kits and rear brackets.

Am I correct that for torque links to go on a Javelin, you'd also need to change the staggered shock set-up so that both shocks were behind the axle (as on an AMX)?

Torque links pulled off my 69 Javelin and Rick Wyman (madmax on the forum) took them and had a few plate sets made and can have more made but they will not have the curved edges.  PM me and I can give you his number or you can just PM him if you like.

no you don't have to change the shock locations (sorry this was after they where removed)

My javelin seems to have the early kit with the simple bolt and the non adjustable torque links. The adjustment specs for them is in the TSM, at least for 1970.

I always wondered why rather than cut open the floor, a spacer could used to prevent the frame rail from crushing and a bolt run all the way thru the rail. Thoughts?
