I believe the Mustang T45 has an integral bellhousing, similar to an automatic transmission. So, it won't work on an AMC engine. However, Keisler Engineering makes a T45 with a removable bellhousing.

I am planning my next project and want to use a 5-speed tranny. A friend has a Mustang with an upgraded engine and transmission, and his originals are in his garage. His spare engine is a 4.6 and he has the tranny, which is a T-45. I am considering an AMC engine, so I am looking for a T-5. Is the T-45 a direct interchange, making it a possibility for my AMC?
