The antique carburetor vendors and rebuilders would know the answer to your question. Try The Carburetor Shop (google it) and see what they say.

Are there sources for kits with modern alcohol-resistant "rubber", or are we left with NOS stuff from 40 years ago ?

Contact Holley. They sometimes have parts for obsolete carbs -- may have a new synthetic foam float for it, or be able to adapt one. A beat up brass float that has been soldered on will weigh more and not work right even if it does seal. If you can get some of the fuel resistant foam modern floats are made of you might be able to cut the arm off that brass float and epoxy the foam on. Don't know that its been done, but there's a first for everything...

i got a 61 rambler classic and need to rebuild the single barrel 1908 holley carb. I can find the rebuild kit fairly easily. Problem is the float is dented to heck and looks like its been re-soldered. so I am wondering where i can find one. I know its no longer being reproduced. Galvan's and blazer don't have any. would any of you have an extra one lying around? thanks for the help as always.
