There was a AMCT10 at the GAD event for $250.00. It had the 2.23 first gear and looked good inside.
I can PM the guy's phone number if you like but he is in Michigan so, I don't know if he wants to deal with shipping. If you send someone to the NAMDRA Nats, I am sure one can be scored there as well. |

I believe you can use what you have.
First thing, and I do not know if it will pertain to this setup. The quick time bell, People have had problems with it as far as clutch fork location and clearances. Just be aware of this. You can use the newer lakwood bell for chevy trans to amc engines. You would need to use the outer register of the crank for the pilot bushing, the one that is used for the torque conv. location. You can get a bushing for this or someone on here can set you up with an adapter for a roller bearing. You may have to source your own bearing for the right size input shaft size. If the clutch setup on the 350 on the car is the right year it may bolt right up to the 401 flywheel. Now the drive shaft , shift location and what not may have to be changed depending on how far off the 350 was mounted from were the 401 is mounted. |

I believe the Muncie input shaft is 6.5" with a .590" Pilot diameter.

I'd get a quick time and be done w/ it. $1500 is WAY too much IMO.

I've been looking all over local classifieds. One on eBay for $1500 but
I'm leery about eBay. Where are all these being sold and whats the
price range? I'd like a beat up one in need of a rebuild so I can
rebuild it and become more familiar to the T-10 if that's the rout I
go. If I go with the T-10 I will need a new shift and clutch linkage, a
drive shaft, and a clutch on top of the tranny itself, to list a few things. It just seems easier
and more cost effective to get the Quicktime bell housing, get the
correct pilot bushing, and get a flywheel that will fit the clutch.
I'll be balancing everything as I always have.

Isn't that shaft too short for the AMC bellhousing?

AMC T-10s are not very hard to find. Heck, I've bought and sold about a hald dozen of them in just the past year so I am not sure why you are having trouble finding one.
As for the M-21, the input shaft if the least of your issues and you should not be thinking about changing the input shaft rather you just need the correct ID and OD pilot bearing for the application. |

I recently posted about putting an M21 behind a 401. I've been trying to find a T10 for about a month and I've had no luck. Why are these so hard to find? The Javelin has an M21 and a 350 SBC in it right now. The guy I bought it from fabricated a clutch and shifting linkage. The trans cross member has already been moved as well. The clutch is a BW twin plate. In theory if I can machine the input shaft to go into the pilot bearing and the flywheel will bolt up the M21 should work. So much has been done already to use the Muncie i think it will be cheaper to just machine it to fit the 401. Thoughts?????
