With temps in Phoenix down in the 50's and 60's and having found some time to tackle my oil leak, I got the supercharger bolted back up, did a little tinkering with the BS3 programing for the EFI and took the car out for a spin after work tonight. I don't remember the Powerdyne being so loud, but it sure felt nice. Definitely planning on hitting the Pavilions this weekend even though the interior is only about 80% together...ah, who looks inside the car interior anyways?!?

Twin fans are in...and it still runs hot. Frustration sets in. Ok, the ECU is coming out and going to Big Stuff to get the MAP issue fixed. I'm concerned about a lean/too much timing situation causing the motor to run hotter than it should besides the fact I just can't get a good tune with the MAP readings being off so that's next on my agenda and then I'll revisit the overheating. New 110 Amp alternator works good, at least. The car will idle around 185 but light crusing or running the rpms up while its sitting shoots the temp up past 220 in a hurry. That tells me (a) not enough air being moved and/or (b) the light cruise settings are leaning up and making the motor run hot. The pump is doing its job though and the stystem has been burped and fluid looks good.
I may try a different electric fan combo, but I'm tempted to squeeze the stock fan and shroud back on and run an electric as a helper. Not my preference but I need to get the cooling addressed, especially in AZ!

Still having some issues with oil leaking from the intake gap between the block and the Indy heads. I'm going to try remaking the spacers and simply using Ultra Black to cure the leaks. If that doesn't work, I may switch to using an Indy intake converted for EFI. My understanding is the Indy intake can be ordered to fit that gap nice and tight when using the Indy SR heads.
Also, the eletric fan and upgraded ECU is gobbling up amps when everything is on so I've ordered a 105 amp unit since I've already done the Delco conversion. I'm also working on getting a shrouded twin 12" electric fan set up. The car is getting really hot in traffic with the unshrouded 16" electric fan. Pics will be posted when the shroud is installed and I'll see if that fixes the heat issues. Also, the front carpet is in but I'm still on the hunt for the back section (hint, hint, if anybody has one in decent shape). Lastly, I still need to get the front spoiler touched up and back on the car but that will be a summer project
Otherwise, the tune is slowing coming together on the 401. I still haven't taken it much above 4000 rpm nor have I put the Powerdyne supercharger on it, but it is feeling very strong. I still have concerns about needing to get bigger injectors for it so that may happen after I decide on keeping the converted Torker or switching to the Indy intake. I still have my old E-6 Haltech unit and wiring harness so if I go with the Indy, I'll likely part with the Torker and offer a package for anybody looking to go to multiport EFI for their AMC. I think I have a few extra sensors and a high pressure external fuel pump to go with the deal. (if there's interest in that, I may sell the converted Torker, ECU, harness, and extras so that I can fund the new intake. Otherwise, that setup may eventually find its way on the roadrace/track project).
Speaking of which, the roadrace/track Javelin goes to the shop on June 1st to get its cage and the 360's will head to the shop to get cleaned up and assessed for build up. Probably going to run the K-1 rod/Wiseco piston combination with the flat tops and some ported large chamber heads. It should keep the compression reasonable with good grunt for the track...but that's for a different thread.

Dan, If you get collector insurance rom someone like Hagerty you can get a waiver of emissions testing. I have a bunch of cars under Hagerty and none of them require emissions testing. |

Sounds good (well, I'd rather it rain during the week while I'm couped up in an office). I think you have my number so when you're looking to head over, give me a buzz. I just picked up my temp tags so I may be running around with it if the weather is behaving trying to tune it in for emissions.

Dan,
It turns out I will be around tomorrow...maybe I can swing by in the afternoon if the rain actually comes as predicted.
