Apparently Stacks of Receipts totaling WELL over what I want to insure it for don't mean anything, because I am under 25, they will only insure up to a set maximum...

How can a persons clean driving record be completely worthless, simply because every other <25 year old idiot smashes their 90hp Honda into every moving and non-moving object on earth?

*End Rant...

Still looking for insurance, It's looking more and more like I am going to pay dearly for a hagarty policy for a year until I turn 25 and then the policy is ~1/4 of what they want currently...

My father and brothers used JC Taylor for years...1970 thru 1990, but since the old fellow that started the company died, their service is far below par.  When I bought the two AMX's from my brothers widow, previously insured by JC Taylor, they would not re-insure at all.  I called Hagerty, great price, fast service, I never had to file a claim, but my father has (with Hagerty).  He had 2 antique cars in PA floods two summers ago, both cars in water over the door sills.  Both had water in engine oil and trans.  They gave an oder to spend up to the Agreed Value on both cars to replace all electrical parts (starters, alternators, etc) that were under water, all carpet uphostery, brakes, wheel bearings/axle bearings, all fluids including one round of fluids for flushing...bill was over $12K for both cars..they didn't debate just sent check...took lots of pics and reciepts.  No questions asked and they didn't drop him!  I have all 22 of my antique cars insured through them, with appraisals.

That's exactly why I will have an Agreed Value policy and not a Stated Value Policy. The wheels/Tires were $4k Alone...

"State Farm had a good policy for classics years ago to."

ON PAPER. I had a stated value policy on my wagon when it was totaled in 2002. Had undervalued it even, at $7K. I could have got another car and mostly replaced it for that, doing the work myself, so figured it was enough (car would have been more properly valued at $10K), and made for s bit less of a payment.

When the car was totaled, I figured I'd get a check for $7K, since another State Farm client hit me. They offered me $3700. When I pointed out the stated value policy I was informed that MS state law said they only had to give me the current market value, and that's what the adjuster determined it was worth. I protested, and they sent out a specialty appraiser, who simply got the model number and looked it up in Old Cars Price Guide - $3500 - but SF would "graciously" give me the $3700 instead. I said "something" and the lady hung up on me (can't blame her for that!).  After I complained to the state insurance commission (and sent a copy of the complaint to the SF main office in PA), they sent a "special negotiator" who sent an appraiser who was familiar with hot rods and customs as well as collector cars. He met with me (the other one didn't) and we discussed what had been done to the car. I ended up with $9000 and kept the wreck (which they valued at $500), but it took me two months to get it. I've since pulled all my insurance from SF (shortly after that debacle!).

Yes, Matt, you can say, "I told you so."

ha-ha, "don't want a 4bbl" you're too much of a car person to hold out on putting one on when it is dropped in you lap! congrats!

Haggerty for insurance, they don't have any disclaimer that stops me from letting my sons drive the car.
Sons are 20 & 22.

You may have to put the car under a shared title, much as that sucks to ge insurance and be able to drive it. CALL insurance companies you may be able to get through the red tape that way. My 22 year old son has me on his Lancer since the bank would not float him a loan even when USSteel confirmed is salary is way over $50k a year.

I had Grundy and the restrictions were horrid. Supposed to be an OK company though.

State Farm had a good policy for classics years ago to.

Kevin,

I ended up buying two American hardtop rear window Seals and just Splicing it at the bottom... Perfect, No.  Damn good, sure.

PM me about those NOS Trunk Panels that you have, I might be needing one as the one I have isn't quite up to par.

My sons insurance company would not insure the NASCAR Matador because it "Looked like a Race car"!!!  He got the insurance for it through Hagerty at a great rate.

It's like my grandpa told me about insurance people, that I've never seen a poor insurance person. He is funny.

Also, The Insurance Company has been linked to this thread to ascertain an value on this vehicle. They didn't seem to like the value of $25k that I wanted to insure it for...
