I'm working on a ProStreet AMX project.
Complete tube chassis with a fairly stout 401.
I'm where I need to get a transmission. The TKO looks like a pretty straight forward install, but I'll be beyond the published RPM limits. The T56 looks to meet my needs, but will require me to fabricate a bell housing. I don't know if anyone is running the T56, but I'm sure some of you are running the TKO. Anyone have any issues with the TKO? |

If I were you I'd look into a t-56 magnum (what I'm looking to run)
There are some people here on the forum with info on all the required parts. |

Quicktime makes an AMC to T56 bellhousing. I'm running a G-Force T5 in mine. Lighter and shifts better than a TKO and took quite a beating in my SVO that I pulled it out of.

I only see the RM-8075 for the TKO and the RM-8069 for the T10.
Do you have another pn? Pretty sure this thing will destroy a T5

I saw that.
I'm guessing by special RM8075 that really means modified. The bell housing is the missing piece of the puzzle. The T56 will be a lot more work to get in than the TKO if I have to mod or make a bell housing. The basic thread was for input from guys running the TKO to determine if its worth the hassle and the $$$ for the T56 - TKO is bolt together and about $600 cheaper.

I'd contact Quicktime and ask for their take on what bell to use for a T56 magnum.

these guy custom build bell housings.
browellbellhousing.com i had one built for a amx with a gm jerico and a clutch that wouldnt fit the normal bells availible. it was a little pricey but not bad for custom made 850 ish about 2 years ago. really nice people and quick turn around. rick |

Man how I love how fast these things veer of topic.
I'm looking for feedback from guys with experience using the TKO. TKO is off the shelf parts and bolt up. T56 will need fab work. Its not a question of what I need to make the T56 work, its whether I can get satisfactory performance out of the TKO. If anyone has experience (either directly or indirectly) with the TKO with a modded engine turning 6500+ I would love to hear about it. |

i think the horsepower/torque level and the wieght of the car will be more of a factor in determining how the trans will hold up vs the rpm level.
i have built some customer cars with tko 600s (non amc) but no real feed back on issues so i assume none. i used products from american powertrain, also very good people to deal with. they may be able to put you in touch with some amc customers that have bought thier kits. from the reseach i did on the last car, hemi e body cuda, the tko looked to be the best match for the hp,torque and car. hope this helps some. rick |
