Looks like old 80s sports rims with actual AMC center caps.

Maybe they're an over-the-counter dealer accessory from the 1970s or 80s.

Thanks, I knew the wheels weren’t amc, but the Center caps certainly are AMC. It’s was a strange combo considering I have smaller “Rambler” wheel covers in the trunk from what looks to be a rambler classic style of wheel cover.

I found some 14" tires on tire rack & tire buyer might want to look there for some tires. On my 70 Rebel the tires on it are Firestone might check with them to.

Geeze, i have a 15+ year old set of low milage 75 series on factory 14" rims that I removed once i brought my car home. Now they prolly are just good for looks if mounted again, haven't really looked at them to know if they have white walls or at least a white band an inch or so away from the wheel. I remember Tiger Paw AWP was a late 70s tire that kept up into the 80s, then moved to AWP II Just never gave much thought with a 71 Javelin and 75 series 14" tires.

Yep, mine are 195's as well, and with a 5.5" rim width on the wheels. Until I searched this morn, i had no idea AWP III was out in production. That is why I listed the link. Haven't seen them, to verify that they kept the white wall or just moved to the sporty black walls. |

The factory hubcaps should fit those steel "artillery" wheels you have now... assuming they are full wheel covers and the same size.
In 64 7.5" x 14 tires were stock on V-8 cars, with 6.5" x 14 stock on sixes, with 7" x 14 and 6.5" x 15 optional ON SIXES. The TSM lists no optional tires for the V-8s, but dealers would install 15" if a customer wanted them. A 7.50 x 14 equates to a P205/75R14 or a 215/70R14. 205mm is actually 8.07", 215 = 8.46", and 195 = 7.68". Although the chart lists 205 as an equivalent, 195 is actually closer. Personally I'd go with the wider 205/75 or 215/70 -- car will handle better and be safer with a little more rubber on the road. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/45_conversionchart.jsp |

Hey guys I've picked up the original hub caps and am getting a quote on some white wall tires which seem fairly easy to find.
However, the autoparts guy figures a new steel wheel won't work with the original hub caps? Anyone know if this is true?

Ambassador 990's came factory fitted with full wheel covers, not hub caps. You may find the proper wheel covers may work on your rims if you remove the volcano caps.
