Is anyone yet making a timing set that one can install with high probability of not needing rework?  I'll check the oiling, of course.  But if anyone has received a set that was good to go out of the box then Id like to start there.

Pretty much a stock rebuild for a CJ5 so probably dont need anything fancy.  But if fancy set is GTG then I dont mind spending the money.  Long term reliability is my goal.

I've had good luck with the Rollmaster. You can see it in my 401 build thread.

You will want to be careful with the Rollmaster as well.

For sure I will be, but at least one recent rollmaster had more correct oil grooves.  Buy I will check everything I know to check so far as oiling

The Rollmaster oil groove area is about 10 times greater than compared to a original sprocket. It is way to large in my opinion.
  • First I laser welded it
  • Then I cut 4 small slots to get about the same area as on an OEM sprocket

How long ago did you purchase that particular Rollmaster set?

Very nice repair.  Not everyone can do laser weld.  You have access to some very special equipment!

I think the major issue is the depth of the channels on the new replacements. The oem ones are not as deep and may be narrower.

6 vs 4 shouldn't make a difference, if the manufacturer kept up with proper tollarances.
