It may matter CA vs. the other 49 states............. CA had some differences years before 71, even. Is that one reason you might see them in the book but not on all cars?

Yeah, that one is nice, but we are trying to determine if there is enough interest (sales market) in reproducing an early AMC "OE style" housing.

Im sure there is some market....but....I had a great used one in one of my ads here on the forum last week...It did sell, but there was only one inquiry regarding it...The later NOS ones with the screw ports that were and still are listed have gotten very little interest, even at prices far below the wrongly made cast iron stuff...These could very well be like many other AMC items...a big demand for a brief period of time and then demand could die...Just my thoughts...Bob in Alabama
Thankyou....Bob

CamJam's 72 also has the non ported housing, and it's a California car too.

You will need to look carefully, as the engine is red.

The one i replaced on my Matador had some pinholes by the bypass hose. Am thinking of taking some JB Weld and try to repair it. Will give me something else to do in the garage when it snows.

[/QUOTE]

IIRC, at least mid to late production 71 had non-sensor housings.

Must have been selective engine/trans configurations then, because AMC did start using these in the 1970 model year.

AMC people are funny some times, if it is not broken, no not replace or repair. I would think, if the price was right and the quality is good, people would purchase one to replace old one or a back up for the future..... maybe.

The problem is that folks think the repro parts will be around forever and therefore will always be available when needed. This is of course false. Buy the part when one sees it. It won't be around tomorrow. In the future, if the part is not used, it can be sold. As an example; I ask: "Where are all the repro grilles"?
