What's up guys its time to pick parts for my 360 build. The block heads and crank are at the shop now, its a clean slate. What kind of cam and pistons should I drop in this sucker??
It'll be running edelbrock performer intake and 4bbl carb, headman headers, and bored .030 Basically looking for a good setup for the performer intake. Thanks in advance. |

I would go 4.125 bore on a 360.

Any reason other than more displacement?

It's a common chevy bore. Oddball bore sizes cost more for rings usually and many more choices
with the 4.125

I'm having a 360 bored .030 over as we speak. Thought it was a common bore for an AMC 360 or similar CI AMC V-8 engine. The caveat is my builder is a absolute AMC guy with 10 of every part. I guess it depends on the situation.

I'll look into the 4.125" bore.
Think i've decided to match the edelbrock #2131 performer intake with the #2132 cam and lifters. They probably knew what they were doing when they designed those together. Found a pdf from edelbrock showing which springs an timing set to go with this setup. If you're interested: http://static.speedwaymotors.com/pdf/3252132.pdf Need some advice on pistons/compression ratio. Don't want anything radical but I need to buy pistons anyways, what would go well with the cam setup ?

Around 9:1 gives a good balance of power and streetability. The cam and intake combo will be very happy with that.

Last two I did we used lots off eBay they were from falcon global. Non forged true flat tops with moly rings eBay number 170652447203. They were nice pieces same weight as dishes I took out and they had that nice gray look to them like they were high silicon. Went right in no mods o no clearance issues. I'm right at like 10/1 comp. 180 psi compression with cheapo 8600 summit cam. I wouldn't hit them with the spray though. Not a bad deal they're reissue 343 Pistons I think they were down under stock deck like .018. And with gaskets had like .060 squish so wirk out pretty good
