Hello all,

Hope this is in the right place, sorry if it’s not. Debated between interior, electrical or engine...

Gathering parts to start assembling my SC/360 this year, and have a question regarding which tach to use.

Will be running MSD; 6AL box, pro-billet distributor and soft touch rev limiter. Know they now make an adapter to use the factory tach, but my question is, are they accurate when used with the adapter (if it even still works haha)? Have read a thread or two where guys used them and found the original tach was off by a couple hundred RPM. Trying to get input from those who have personal experience.

My Dad and brother both have Autometer monster tachs running with the MSD. Trying to decide between one of those, and using the original tach.

Thanks!

Joe

I run all factory tachs and MSD ignitions with adapters.   I confirm my timing and rpm with a snap on roll back timing light. And have never seen a difference.  I’m also only checking idol rpms.  At the higher rpms I’m never looking down long enough to count the little hash marks.  Wink

VERY good point, there! LOL

So if I go that route, the 8920 is the one I need for a ‘71 tach? See they have a couple of different P/Ns.

Thanks,
