so, looking at those images it appears one may need to swap the input on that newer GM trans to the Ford trans from 93 to whenever they ended.
  I hope I get this right and am not repeating anyone.
In 93 Ford went to the SN95 body. For some reason they chose to move the engine forward in relation to the trans and so they simply chose to make a longer input and different bellhousing.
  That long input makes this series of T5 ideal for swaps as it adds an inch or so of length. That usually means you gain enough room for a handy dandy adapter plate!

   There should be pics around on line to show the difference.
I have one or two out of the trans somewhere.

Thanks and this is at the site listed above mdl? Even if I don't use it right now its good to have it stashed for later

I'm sure once I get it down ill be cruising around town but I would very much like to be hauling around town that 196 isn't a slouch and Haveing a tranny that I can get parts and serviced anywhere for a reasonable price sounds like the way to be especially if ill give the car to the kids someday the more parts I can standardized on the ride the better for them in the future I.e common disc brakes common trans etc
