1965 Rambler Classic 770 199 BW T35.
Just rebuilt the transmission and am assembling it, first thing is to set the output shaft in the case making sure thrust washer is in place, then set the Rear pump drive gear key in the shaft, then set the Drive gear on the shaft in the Key. All done, All 3 rings are set and i slide the pump on the shaft and engage the gears. it looks good, the shaft protrudes i think the correct about to install the governor, but when i go to tighten the flat head pump screws just a bit the pump binds up ( i assume its the pump, cant turn the output shaft. see photos and video for details. Not sure what i am missing? the pump is a replacement pump. Thanks Ok I know what is causing the issue but not sure how to resolve it. When i remove the Key from the shaft and put everything back together, the shaft spins freely as it should, so its with the key and gears. but when the pump is out i can turn the gears easily enough so ?? Is the key a bit long? Are you using a pump gasket? Try making a thicker gasket or doubling the gasket. Just 0.001" or so can cause binding.
