I'm looking at the offset on this and wondering if it's going to work with my 71 Javelin. I want to change it to a 4 speed but I'm thinking it's not going to line up in the console overlay. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Not sure, but isn't it (71-up) supposed to look more like this one?

Another picture. I'm not worried about correctness. It would be nice to know what it's from and if it will work. Kinda looks homemade.

will do this as this is good info for any one. the shifter looks like a after market hurst that i bought in 1985. i had to cut a hole big enough to put your head thur and had a shifter boot that could be used as a rain hat. i finaly got one for a 71 and it fits perfectly.. i also got a piece of floor to cover the orginial floor which will pop riveted down. look in a tech service manual and parts book for your year to see what amc put in the car before you make the mistake i did.
