One thing to mention
because ONE Company played dirty were not all stupid... in the same way i could blame the US for the Ford Explorer Scandal, or the Japanese for the AirbagDesaster and so on... And its one thing to build in another Country with own Supervision and Quality Control from Home, as importing and selling the Stuff from the Container>Warehouse>Customer as a Trader like Summit does. China CAN Quality buit it costs more, and they have a bad Habbit... the 1-2 deliverys are ok, and then suddently the Quality drops.. If its cheap, there is a reason for it. PS the X5 for Europe and the US is build in Spartanburg, South Carolina... |

For $10 I think I'll get a set of these plans. Most of the materials I can get free or cheap, and build my own.

I don't even think you need the plans to build one if you have the metal and the skills. I just build an engine stand for one of my International diesels. I used scrap metal I had from shortening a flatbed; measured everything, mocked it up, tack welded everything. Then gently set the engine in it to make sure everything was correct before completing the welds and painting it. The biggest cost was four caster wheels for $80 that could hold 1500lbs. Took a full day to build it and now the engine is secure and in my garage. Now I just have to figure out how to start an electronic diesel.

For $499 you could probably buy a welder, chop saw and enough materials to build one yourself.

Just purchased/recevied the above engine stand thru Walmart on-line - same unit, half the price, free shipping and fast return if no good. I'm going to do some rearranging, moving the tank, adapt locations for the starter solenoid, other things.
i'll upload pix after I get the engine on stand. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mobile-Engine-Testing-Station/51985964?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227044453464&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=87314844049&wl4=pla-193947115489&wl5=9033319&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=51985964&wl13=&veh=sem |
