I am trying to remove a 1-1/8" Torque Link pivot bolt which threads into the rear frame rail. I cannot get it to budge! I have tried a 1/2" impact, breaker bar with handle extension, and even using a jack with the breaker bar thinking the weight of the car would break it loose. Instead it lifted the car and flexed the breaker bar! Heat doesn't work either because it doesn't really reach the threaded part of the bolt which is behind the mounting bracket. Any suggestions?

Scott,
If you need to sacrifice the bolt, bracket, arm...what ever, I have plenty of parts and can rebuild the arms if the bushings are shot. I'll be honest, never had one that 1/2" 1000 ft pound impact would not break loose!!!

The first ones I did were a bear. Car on jack stands; breaker bar on the bolt; hydraulic jack under the handle of the breaker bar and two neighbors sitting on the lip of the trunk. On the passenger side, I stood on the handle of the breaker bar and held on to the wheel well while I flexed my leg muscles. And yes, I fell off a few times. My next investment was an impact wrench.

Do you have an air hammer? Maybe hit the bolt with the hammer bit. Then go back and forth on the impact wrench, then the air hammer. Worth a shot.

when needing to remove old fasteners, always try tightening it first then remove it. Always works best that way for me. Good luck. They can be a bear.
