Can someone tell me what the finish for black stripes is? Was going to paint mine on instead of the kit. What do you think?

Flat black, semi gloss, or gloss ?
It will depend on what car and year .

If painting on, then go with flat and use a clear coat of the gloss your trying to achieve. It will last a lot longer.

The kit for stripes states gloss but I don't know. My girlfriend/wife's first car, the stripes were a satin I would guess. But this could have been weathered?
Try re-posting this on "restoration" if you want factory correct so the experts can respond.

The factory black tape stripes were gloss, but not very glossy, but more gloss than satin or semi gloss. These weathered down in gloss pretty quickly.

We painted the stripes on my bittersweet 69. We used gloss black then clear coated over them. What I like is that you can’t even feel that they’re there and they’ll never shrink or dull with age.
