A high-torque mini-starter (RobbMC, Powermaster, etc.) should solve the hot start issue.

I had my factory current-sensing tach converted to pulse-sensing by rodhrod here on the forum.

Greetings, They do sell heat shields for starters that are just a bent piece of sheet metal or aluminum with a bent area that has a hole to mount it with one of the starters mount bolts. I had just made one myself and installed it. Worked fine. I have heard that the headers will transfer a great amount of heat and then I guess the starter lock up from the expansion?????   A mini starter is a great fix as well but there is quite a price difference between that and an Autzoner.... Good Luck

Factory headers??? What do you mean by that? Do you have tubular steel headers or factory cast iron manifolds?

Heat soak from tubular steel headers can affect the starter giving you the symptoms you see, but before you start throwing parts at the car, you should confirm that is the problem. Manifolds won't cause this problem.

Check your dwell. Too much dwell will give you the exact same symptoms and is a 5 minute fix that costs nothing.
