my father has a 1982 Spirit,and believe it or not it is his dailey driver .the other day the spring plate that the shock mounts to broke and we have not been able to find them any where. any info on where I can find them would be greatly appreciated. passenger side is needed badley but could use both.

If one of the local members doesn't check in soon with a part or help, you can check with some of the main AMC parts suppliers. For example....
And you can check the other AMC vendors in this section... |

If you are talking about the plates bolted to the bottom of the leaf springs....I have a set. Is this what you are looking for?? How about these with a nice set of U-Bolts...It appears they are the same left and right.

Those are spring supports or "spring saddles" and that ain't gonna break! ;-) (and I've got them with original type bushings, powder coated in either black or natural steel)
My bet is Ross has nailed it as far as the parts he's after because those DO break - where the shock mounts. (Those fit a lot of cars - like the front spring supports do....) |
