Single-mode or multi-mode?
Are you going to be transmitting Ethernet packets or other date types? Perhaps you'll have a fiber channel switch as well to handle your MP3s on the drive shelf? |

Sorry,
Everybody has experience, time tested techniques, some good, some maybe rethinking, but if it works, just go for it. Sum it up: clean copper wire, no acids, rosin solder - crimp or both, must be sealed if exposed to the environment, some like to seal regardless of location. I believe every combination has been discussed, but something new is just around the next bend in the road. |

Nah, super conductors, Bloch's theorem is close, but a little tweaking and we could be there at + 200°C. Good enough for under the hood. Joints are going to be a problem though. Fiber optics has already been done.
