Just thought I'd share this. I had the Machine at a cruise last week, and some guys were comparing AMC notes with me. One guy commented on the new antenna I have on the Machine and wanted to know where to get it and how much. He nearly fell over, expecting at least 100 bucks.
I used a repro antenna from a 65-8 Mustang, about $20 from Mustangs Unlimited. I pointed out the base is a bit larger than the original so you can't substitute an AMC nut, but for the price, I didn't care. The new one comes complete with a nut, base, and gasket. The grommet that comes on the wire fits the stock body hole. I'm sure this fits all the other round base cars as well. I work on alot of old Mustangs, and just happened to notice one day the antenna on the original convertible I was working on had the same antenna as the Machine, which was bent and pitted. I had to get one for my brother's 68, it was dirt cheap, so I went with it. |

cool fix. I have a (temporary) Jaguar XJ6 antenna filling the hole the previous owner put in the right rear fender. It's pointed backwards, but if I extend it and forget to lower it, the trunk lid will nail it. It's keeping the rain out of the hole right now, and keeping the far end of the antenna cable from getting lost!

Ouch! Hey you could always cover the back one with an XM antenna (and receiver) and no one would know. OR go with the big CB antenna...

When I restored the Javelin I thought that was a tough car....Of course that was before Facebook pages and Forums .....were as helpful as they are now!......But this Rebel has be come a costly car for parts also extremely hard to fine even with internet and parts pages......I know that supposed to be the fun part....but I'm starting to get impatiant :) |
