    Posted: Oct/02/2017 at 12:38pm

I've finished my front suspension rebuild and now want to replace the rear bushings.  How hard is it to replace them one at a time with the rear diff still in the car?  Seems like it should be possible to do this while supporting the springs and diff with floor jacks.

What bushings (poly or rubber) did you use on the front? Where did you purchase?

I know these questions have been answered many time on the forum but it seems like everyone has a different opinion.

Will be doing the same on my car this winter once I know which way to go.

I used all rubber bushings, and I stick with Moog brand on bushings and springs as they are U.S. made.  I got the spring perch bushings from Amazon... best price I found anywhere.  The control arm bushings I think came from JEGS as did the Moog 2112 coil springs.  KYB shocks came from Amazon.  I usually just shop around to see who has the best price on what I want.

In my AMX I used a mixture of poly and rubber, but for my Javelin I am sticking with rubber as I want a decent ride.  I don't have anything against the poly bushings, but they do transmit a bit more road noise.

The rear bushings should be easy, the fronts have a steel shell that presses into the spring eye. They can be problematic. The threw bolt on the front can be rusted to the center sleeve.

Thanks for the reminder.  I remember that from when I stripped down my AMX to be media blasted.  Front bolts were rusted to the sleeve big time and it was a real PITA as I recall.

Me Too! Our big trip is getting closer, getting more pumped up. The Rambler's exhaust manifold gasket has been a worry for me, but that issue has been solved.

the one with the metal sleeve I put them in the freezer and made a tool with a threaded rod to draw the bushing in to the spring so I don't have to remove the spring or beat on it to get it out I use a air chisel

Good idea! I made a similar tool for the control arm bushings.
