Don't know if they're still on the forum but Brad and Bradley Pearsons each have some wicked quick Rebel Machines. Believe they're running the stock rear.
GMan also ran a quick Machine. -Steve- |

Guess it depends on what you call fast times.
I just have upper and lower boxed in, an anti-roll bar. As far as tires go, you can fit a 325/50/15 on the car, so I don't now how much bigger you want to go.. Bradley |

Im building it to run x275, crazy to say, but Ill be a slower car with around 1200hp. In the class I have to run stockish suspension, keep the rear frame rails, but I can mini tube and go coil over, anti roll bar etc...
Have any pics of your car? Whats she run, thanks!

Cool,
I really don't think you'll need the mini tub. Biggest thing will be the anti-roll bar and getting some better rear controller arms. The front suspension is really heavy, but I don't know the rules well enough to know how much you can change there. I just put in poly bushings and drag shocks in the front. But others have saved a lot of weight by going with control freak suspension in the front. The 1200 up will be nice. Are you going with Indy stuff, some power adder. I've had thoughts of going crazy with mine, but I think once it goes back together it's going to pretty much run what it runs and be done. Anyway, before I took the car apart for paint it was running 11.0s. I freshers up the motor a little so I should dip in the 10s but we'll see. I have pics of it on fb. I'll look you up on there and send some pics. Good luck with your build. |

Ill be running the 275 on a double bead lock 12in rim, im going to try and get the thing low as possible, so think I may need to do a mini tub to do it, if not less work is fine with me lol Im going a fab 9in from trz and using there anti roll bar and coil overs. May just have them build the control arms while there at it. I ask already and the control freak front suspension is legal since it dont require any welding. Would be nice to have a solid front end with the mph I hope to trap.
Hate to be that guy.... but I have a little 5.3 turbo that will be going in it. Im a huge amc guy and will have a boosted one day, but its just to cheap to do a ls right now. https://www.facebook.com/willie.peterson.77 |

Can't see you needing mini-tubs to run a 275. You could maybe run solid bushes in the rear end or as you mentioned just make some new rear control arms up since you are already doing some fab work for the rear end.

Westernred, i think sinse hes wanting to lower it so much and with a 275 on a 12 inch rim hes think he may need a tub on it. They'll figured all that out at the shop I guess. On mine with a 325 on a 10 inch rim it's ok. Nice thing about these cars is the wheel wells are pretty big.

Ya the wheel wells are huge for sure. I was surprised how far out the 12in rim stretch the 275 drag radial. Im hoping to have the car on the lift here soon and start checking fitment. The car should run low 8's so Ill definitely have to run sub frame connectors and tie in the cage. I will have to make a decent more power down the road to be competitive, so going to over build the cage and only do it once. The fast x275 cars around here are running mid to high 4's and over 160mph in the 1/8th. Im just excited to build a car you never seen. When my wife is at the track with her white 5.0, its hard to find her with 40 other ones out there lol
Anyone weight there Rebel? |
