Just bought a 73 Javelin.  Rear View Mirror Glass is bad.  Anyone know of or recommend a place that replaces or restores car mirrors?  Is this a specialty or do most glass shops do such work?

Might be similar enough to a Ford/Mercury mirror (I have never actually checked.) but if you google West Coast Classic Cougar you will find that they sell the replacement mirror glass for F/M mirrors and they have a video (on Youtube) about how to install them.  Joe

The mirror glass on my car was on the floor of the car when I bought it. I guess the factory glue didn't stick and it fell out of the housing. I'm going to experiment with some auto parts glue and hope it sticks and doesn't destroy the reflective material on the glass.

I put a mirror on the passenger side of the 60 Javelin just to watch the ditch. Now living and driving on multi lane highways I found 4-3/8" convex glass mirror for scooters $5, The glass place put it in last year for $10. Been on for several thousand miles and no problems.
The adhesive, he stated, had to be outdoor mirror glass specific, RTV would either make a mark or fall off.
For the trouble/cost, I'd take it to a glass shop myself.
