Got a busted shock plate on my 71 Javelin. Does anyone know of a vendor that sells real leaf spring shock mount plates? Not looking for a replacement, maybe something a little better?

76-85 Jeep CJ's were spring under axle (stock) like us,
and used the same thin tube Model 20 axles,
so I'd start looking there first.

Just make sure they'll fit the M20 axle,
as just about everything else has larger diameter tubes.

Lots and lots of companies made spring plates for CJ's in the past,
but I don't kniw what's still available.

For what it's worth,
these are the U-bolts I just used to bolt my M20 in this week:

I used a set of old (vintage) slapper bars (traction bars) that replace the spring plates.

The slapper bars are 10x's stronger than any plate you'll find,
and the ones I had have the ability to stagger the shocks (one in front/one in back).

Some aftermarket plates should also have that ability,
but others don't.

I'm assuming your shocks are staggered?
Right shock in front of the axle,
Left shock behind it (?)

Yes they're staggerd. I'm about to order leaf springs from Eaton Detroit Spring, just wanted everything new instead of a near 50 year old fatiqued plate and bushing mount

Someone on here posted a link before and may have been for 76-85 Jeep CJ's Jeep applications, just not sure.

I used Chrysler plates on my 70 Donohue that had a Chrysler 8 3/4" rear. I unstaggered the shocks to clear the larger exhaust and to get the upper shock mount off the weaker trunk floor sheet metal and back on the real upper frame shock mount. The Chrysler plates were thicker. I also added some leaves so axle wrap was not an issue with the non staggered shocks.

I bought a set from Kennedy. There was a labeling mistake (I got two rights instead of a right and a left, but that was straighted out). My car had slapper bars when I bought it, but I want to go back to mostly stock.

They seemed plenty beefy and well made.

Unsure, but for staggered shocks, 2 of the same shock mount are used, 1 flipped around on 1 side,
and for un-staggered there is a left side and right side shock mount, does that sound correct ?

Apparently there were differences between the Javelin and AMX.  I thought that the torque links dictated that both shocks are in the same orientation.  And they were staggered on cars without torque links.

I think.
