I have a Dane 15 in my gremlin and my eagle. Both are 6cyl/auto. Would the gearing be the same for a possible swap?

Not necessarily, for example, my 1980 TSM says standard gearing for an Eagle would be 3.08 or 3.54 depending on a couple of variables.
An earlier TSM says that your Gremlin might have a 2.37, 2.73, 3.08 or 3.31:1. Again depending on variables. Not to mention the variable of age and the probability that some one else may very well of arbitrarily changed the rear axle in the cars you took them out of.

As John said: hard to say, but six cylinders usually had 2.73 gears.

By 1984, some were going as low as 2.35

The gear code is stamped on the axle housing to the right of the cover.
Codes are as follows:

E   3.58
F   3.08
G   3.31
H   2.73
J   2.37

Twin Grip codes may be different. Google AMC 15 axle ratios to find more codes.

Hope this helps.
