Has anyone found a replacement for the window channel weatherstripping? This is where the bottom of the window sits in the metal channel, both the front and quarter glass. I've talked to Pete at amcrambler who said they are not reproduced. Is there a close fit from other vehicles that have worked for anyone?

This is for a 1968 Rambler American 2 door sedan.

I am looking for the same thing for my '65 Classic 660 4 door. I have called at least 3 reputable AMC /Rambler vendors in the US and Canada and I get the same answer. Was AMC the only manufacturer to use this method of door glass mounting? I am told the only available option is to use windows mounting "tape" that the many glass shops provide. Of course it won't show as the bracket is always out of sight, but I looking at the shape of the original rubber, I can only presume its purpose was to hinder debris and dust from collecting inside the door.

Just a suggestion but go to the Steele Rubber Products website and look over the universal products there. If you see something that night work, buy a few feet of it and report back if you have success. Also so to Macs Antique Parts and look at the Falcon weatherstripping. Joe

Paceman. Yep that's the point I'm at. Have the steel rubber products catalog page printed out and looking for the closest profile to try. Thought someone else might have already done this.

I'm listening in on this conversation with the same curiousity.  That is hard rubber to find.

Looking at other car listings is a good method.  I remember 25 years ago when helping my friend restore his 63 American Convertible - he was looking for a solution for the rubber seal that goes on top of the windshield where the top comes down.  We took his original to Carlisle and Fall Hershey and found that Dennis Carpenter made a seal for the 1964 Galaxie convertibles that was 100% the same extrusion - only longer, which was perfect.  One little cut and we were in business!

I've look at those in the catalog. This seems to be very close. I'll have to get a foot and try it out.

I think this is the closest we're going to get on a replacement.

Oh! Are you all talking about the front/leading edge of the wind-up windows? WHere it meets the vent window? It's stainless steel, fuzzy stuff (supposed to be) inside?
