What size of schedule 80 are you using? When these guys are talking about PVC explosions then most are about PVC white pipe and sch 80. bTW... my old garage had white pipe for 10 years on 165+ psi for 24/7 not cpvc as I thought. I was cheap when I installed it.

I'm using 1/2". It's been in place for nearly 20 years. My compressor shuts off when it reaches 175 psi and kicks back on @ 140 psi.

While PVC may be frowned upon, ABS with an air pressure rating is a safe product. It doesn't turn to shrapnel. I'm putting this in my shop.

When the market crashed, I picked up some pre-fabbed galvanized air compressor piping from a couple of local machine shops that closed down for CHEAP like I think I paid $10 for a whole pallet of the stuff.
The only use for PVC I have in my shop is for my vacuum system. I have seen PVC stuff from the 1980s have catastrophic failures but this was due to another medium besides dry air being pushed through the lines (systems with pressurized solvents). But havent seen it happen since then. The stuff on the market these days is much better than the crap from back then.

We have used a light blue plastic tubing, dedicated for air lines, in our workshop for 6 years. Now and again we wind up the compressor to 150 psi to pressure test blast hoses, never had a blow out, and that's with the 'push on' fittings, not screwed joints.
