!968 Javelin SST.  I bought a replacement starter and hooked it up just like the old one.  The only thing I noticed different is there is a screw on the starter housing that is not on the original.   Is this for a ground.  The new starter will not work at all

Make sure the neutral safety switch wire is on the lone stud terminal, as it is ground when set in park or neutral. The ground wire will allow starting.

I wish I could post pictures here, but this is the starter purchased

There is a large copper post in the center and two smaller posts on either side.  I attached the starter just as it came off with green to the left ad blue to right if you are looking at it.  I can jump the starter with a screw driver touching the center post and the right post.  I looked under the dash and noticed a loose brown wire not attached to the fuse box, however it is much to short to make it to the fuse box.

Some have stated it might be the neutral safety switch but to be honest, I have no idea what to look for

use a test light on the wires and see which one has power when turned to the start position. It should hook up to the right side s terminal

With a test light. Light comes on the center post and nothing on the other posts

Start with checking the fuses. I may be wrong but I think the voltage feeds the neutral safety switch and then to the ignition switch to the s terminal on the starter. Was trying to find wiring schematic but not much luck.

I got quite a mess.  I noticed disconnected wires under the dash and attempted to connect them.  Well lets just say stuff started smoking.  The connection to the NSS was melted and wiring in the harness was also melted together.  Not sure where to start at this point.  Also got the glove box open and found a dead mouse
