Anyone ever put a mopar 8 3/4 rear in a AMX or Javelin .The rear is offset and looks like the driveshaft will not be in line with the trans.Will this be a problem?

The only one I did was from a 69 B body into a 73 Javelin.
Used the B body shock plates, and a new set of u-bolts for the B body, and a modified U joint. The rear brake line was swapped out from my 73 rear end.
All in all easy to do considering being bolt in swap.

my son's 70 Javelin had a 8 3/4" Mopar rear out of a 71 Duster (A-Body), fit well, was 3.55 ratio sure grip,,,,buthe wanted a 2.87 for mileage so I swapped it out. I never drove it but the only change I saw was the axles tubes were bigger and needed larger U-bolts to attach to rear axle. The axle fit right on the factory spring pins and width looked correct.

If you did not already know a lot of guys have used the Ford 8.8" rearends in their A-body Mopars do to the cost and availability of them compared to the 8-3/4" which hasn't been made for a long time. I also know there are also many AMC guys that have done this as well.

mopar A body rear end will go under a 70 javelin, may have to adjust the perches. did ond on my 70 javelin drag car.

The rear fits just fine, B-body it is the CENTER SECTION pinion yoke is what is offset.The drive shaft will not be in line with the trans. Ford rear ends are like this also[offset] pinion,I am going to cut and move the housing&axles over to compensate for the offset.

I ran an A body 8 3/4'' in my Gremlin for years. Yes there is a slight angle. There will be less with a Javelin. There is no need for the driveshaft to be in line. The only important consideration is the pinion centreline needs to be parallel to the centreline of the transmission. The slight sideways angle of the driveshaft is no different than the angle away from horizontal that all our cars have when viewed from the side.
