Have a tilt steering column in a 70 Amx. Works fine, but is terrible loose and
wobbly. Tried a search to turn up nothing. A repair that can be made without
removing from car? Have went thru tsm, but not sure about tackling it, not
afraid of anything but steering columns    If it has to be removed, anyone
here rebuild these things?

Joe Roberts...( 71sc360) has done several including mine.  He did mine in the car but it's not easy.  You have to tear it down to tighten the 3 screws way down the column....tilts are much more complicated than the regular non tilt...

You can make the repair while the column is still in the car. To me it's easier to do it in the car. The tilt mechanism is really pretty simple to tighten or repair. I have repaired a bunch of Jeep tilt columns through the years! (Very common Jeep problem!) If you have a TSM even better, but you really don't need it if you just pay attention to how it comes apart. When you get to the loose tilt bolts don't just tighten them up. Use Loctite on them and you won't have that problem again.

For a 70there is a special socket needed as well as a special puller for the tilt pins. You have to go down pretty far to get to the loose bolts but I agree it is easier in the car. I just finished rebuilding a 70tilt for another forum member and have done many over the years. It isn’t as scary as the tam makes it out to be but does require attention to get it all back together correctly.

This should give you an idea what you are in for. As mentioned some 70 columns are slightly different
