Looks like nice work you're doing!! I'd like to paint my own car, but need to serve an apprenticeship under someone for awhile before I'd feel comfortable enough to do it.

..It`s all in the prep...The hardest color i have ever painted was satin black..How it comes out of the gun is how it stays..no color sanding ..blocking..or buffing... I will be doing it RWB from left to right not front to back so it should be different...Here`s a little video from when i shot the metal flake on my wagon roof...it took a full day(3 coats of gold base..3 coats of flake..5 coats of clear) ...then blocked..and 3 add`l coats of clear         https://youtu.be/P4u9jLPdR08

Rangoon red...Olympic white...Grabber blue...I am not going the normal front middle back color combo...i`m going l/side red middle white  r/side blue...side colors will go onto the roof and hood...should be interesting

Alright! I like your color selections too; So glad to see you are not using 'OSHA red'!

I always think the Sportabout was AMC's influence on Chrysler to come out with the Magnum.

Lookin' good...

This looks really cool. Still can't believe this is a Concord. It's most likely going to resemble a Rebel Machine when finished. Impressive work! Embarrassed

DUDE.
HOLY BALLS.

I have a '78 Concord Wagon that I need to makeover as well...and I can only DREAM it will even come close to as nice as this one!  The colors you chose and the layout of JUST the engine compartment already make this car a PIECE OF ART. Well done.

Congratulations on the car so far, keep going!

I like them for fender well headers but under the car with no tail pipes you choke on the fumes...there load...pretty restrictive...my son bought side pipes for the car and the fist thing i did was make a set of glass packs for him using a set with 3 inch in and out with a 3.5 inch case..They breathe quite well and have a deep tone....

So you actually have four glass packs... two on each side, welded end to end. Different...
Those header muffler look like they exit under the car right at the B pillar, no wonder you're getting fumes in the car! You'd need to extend them to exit right in front of the rear wheel... That would help, but may still get some fumes inside at times (like sitting still and idling) due to the back doors being right at the front of the wheel well. Good door seals help, but probably wouldn't keep all out.

I had made a video showing the massive restriction that the org. glass pack that came with it had...2 inch inlet and a 1 1/16 core for 52 inches....The way the new mufflers are swedged the inside diameter stays constant and i have 36 inches of perforation surface..3 inch in and out...plenty of surface area to absorb each exhaust pulse at lower rpm`s but free flowing at upper rpm`s...and with a 3.5 inch case they fit nicely beside the shields...It`s hard to beat a simple glass pack

Doors have never been off my wagon! I stripped them down when rebuilding the car and painting, but since they closed well and were gapped pretty good all around, I didn't want to loosen the hinge bolts. Got lucky, don't see that real often on a 40 year old car (when I built it in 2003). Still that way -- even the driver door hinges are still good!

You've done a great job on that Concord, by the way!! Know you can't wait to get it finished.

Anthony, I put the 304 in the wagon last week (by myself) the motor mounts gave me grief till I took the p/s plate off the block then lowered it onto it when it was in the crossmember. The p/s head would up dead against the firewall ( my BIG pry bar remedied that situation. Got the trans in by myself also but the p/s header slipped out (couldn't get it back in so instead of playing with the motor mount I just removed the strut bar and rear strut bar bracket, it went right in. Today I fitted the shifter cable along side the braided trans lines, and cable for the kickdown. Like 10 # of you know what in a 5 # bag. Next the exhaust system and the trans dipstick.. Everything is a fight with not much room for all the things on the d/s. Luckily the dipstick tube didn't give me too much grief. All of this in a 20' x 10" garage.

On my 64 i placed thick felt between the r/side cyl. head and the fire wall and lowered the engine striaght down because of the Milodon deep pan than did the transmission...on the Concord i`m putting everything in at once from underneath the car..I put the crossmember on tonight...will do the trans and l/side header tomorrow and i will be putting the r/s header on in the car...i will be doing a live feed on you tube if your interested...look`s like next Saturday

If you noticed as time has gone on there is less stuff on the wall`s...I have been slowly packing were putting the house on the market in the beginning of May...Looking for a smaller house with a bigger garage....It does get tight it`s only 10x26...i realy wanted to rent a shop and move into an apartment...that was about 5grand a month..This is my last complete build after this i will play/maintain/modify what i have....i will help jr in the future.....He has more talent than i do

And working in a small garage with hand tools proves you dont need a big shop to get quality results...I work in a 50 bay shop that we can play base ball in ...Doesn`t make the work any nicer

I hear what you're saying Anthony the problem I got is that I have stuff on one wall and it's just so tight it's a really tight squeeze to get under the car on the passenger side. I have to squeeze myself in there. I got about two and a half feet in front of the car that's it and I work off a small Black & Decker folding table but like you said it's not the size of the garage it's the quality of the work. I think I'm doing all right for an old goat

You can use an old cell as long as it has a USB connection (Android or non-smart phone). Charge and connect to your computer. It should see it like a USB stick. Make sure you can find the photo directory and actually see the files, and transfer to your computer. Newer Android phones have issues with that, especially if there area lot of pics on the phone. I have to have a special program to transfer now, but my older "feature phone" (looks like an Android, but custom to LG and won't load/run Android apps... just the ones form LG made for it, so limited) works just like a USB stick. You can get a phone like that real cheap... or free. Not as good as a cheap camera, but great for internet photos. And you probably have an old phone lying around, or a friend does.

Bent and installed tran`s cooler lines as well as the cooler...Is there a reason AMC ran them down the R/side? I ran them down the l/side...Hooked up the neutral safety switch/harness..Next is to put a belt on the p/steering..then bleed the brakes...

Most auto trannys have the inlet/outlet for the cooler lines on the right side.

AMC must have left the lines over on the right because that's where the BW tranny lines were. You'd think they would have changed them since there had to be some change anyway. Maybe left them over there to allow more clearance around brake lines and steering components, or prevent confusing with brake and PS lines???

The headers are Hooker Competion headers...My son tig`ed them for me and i made them into dog leg....The rear is from a 01 Explorer i did the 1 tube 3 inch narrow...It should work perfectly for his application...373..posi.31 spline disc brakes....I finally finished all the wiring last week...That took 2 years...It`s funny because i do that type of work almost daily...The carb we used was on one of Richie Zuhls cars back in the 70`s it was set up for full throttle launches i redid the accelerator circuit thats why i keep wacking the throttle in the video       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F02SEVQv4ak" rel="nofollow - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F02SEVQv4ak
