Shannon you made a mistake on class 3 should be Stock 68 to 70 Javelin, class 6 should be 71 to 74 Javelin, etc., . What until you really get old and try proof reading your own writing , trust me I'm much worst then this most of the time. Any way keep up the good work. Sorry I will not be able to be at Cordova this year. Next year maybe. Looks like your going to get a very big turn out. LRDaum

with all I'm dealing with related to Dad's sudden death at the hands of an idiot, I've not had time to get a hotel lined up - still busy even tonight dealing with all the papers, bills, cancelling stuff, ugh.
As if his death wasn't enough, dealing with all the paperwork and legal stuff and cleaning out a packed house and TWO garages............
so if I get time to deal with hotel and planning, I'd be there, maybe with the 73 - it's running rich as heck with those stupid trash edelbrocks but otherwise is ok.

I'll be in my usual attire, Ray-Ban sunglasses, button up shirt, short, and wearing boat shoes. Looks like the weather will make this an excellent year to attend.

Tried to get the trailer out the back yard but we've had so much rain the last few days I got the truck stuck. Spent an hour getting it out. Think I'm going to listen to fate and sit this year out.

The AMC Races was the best AMC event I have ever attended !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Total blow out.

I'll be there next year and every year after. Heck, you can tell AMC stories in the rain under the pavilion. Nothing to a bit of rain and it was not enough to dampen AMC SPIRIT.

YOU NEED TO ATTEND AND BE A SPONCER NEXT YEAR !!!

For everyone that didn't make it to the event you really missed out. We had some rain in the afternoon on Friday but that didn't stop people from buying parts at the swap meet or the countless new friends that people made from hanging out under cover from the rain. The swap meet was amazing with excellent prices on much needed parts that I needed and my friends bought. Thank you vender's for comming out and getting parts in our hands. The picnic was delicious with great cooks cooking burgers, hotdogs and sweetcorn, had all the fixings. Saturday was a great day with many cars in the show and watching AMC's tear it up on the track was fun for everyone. We had the track and facilities all to ourselves as the AMC RACES rented the track for it's event. A very big thank you to Shannon, Bobbie and Stephan Halverson for organizing and putting the event on. Thank you to all the people who stepped up and donated to the event, donated to the picnic and the many volunteers who helped make this show great. I as many others are looking forward to the 2019 AMC RACES and hope to see everyone again and those who didn't make it.

Been going for 20 years but missed last 3 years (not counting last year which did not happen).  This event was great as big as 2000 when all the east coast guys used to come.  Great cars and lots fun.  Guy rides in on a Harley Saturday morning wearing chaps (kind of cold) to drive his old car that he sold 1 year ago.  He then wins super pro and runners up in quick 8.  Goes to AMC eliminator and wins it all, with a stick shift Lenco transmission car, they could not have scripted it any better than that!!  Thanks Shannon and Bobby for all your help and time it was great!! Thanks to Scheiner's for cooking a great lunch on Friday!!

Actually, last year did happen.  We had like 4-5 cars and like 10 people but it did happen.

Tried to get the trailer out the back yard but we've had so much rain the last few days I got the truck stuck. Spent an hour getting it out. Think I'm going to listen to fate and sit this year out.

Having AMC Fun,

The AMC RACES 2018 event was great! Lots of Show cars, lots of Race cars, lots of cool and rare parts in the swap meet, and lots of AMC people to enjoy a good time with. It was a little damp at times on Friday, however that didn't stop anyone from browsing the swap meet, finding those parts they needed, checking out the cars on the show field, enjoying the excellent food at the big picnic, getting their Race cars judged under the roof, attending a "How To" meeting for beginner racers, getting Race cars teched in to race, or just simply enjoying the company of fellow AMC people. All throughout the evening it was clear, and everyone had a nice time visiting. Saturday morning brought with it a nice dry day as well. Show cars parked in the grass, and people cleaned them up to be judged, before going off to get breakfast at the trackside café. Race cars that were teched in filled the lanes at 9, to run test and tune till 12:30. Others that needed to be teched in, jumped in the lanes too once they were all set.  The swap meet was in full swing with more people setting up shop that had drove in overnight. The Car Show was going throughout the day with many people enjoying the beautiful cars. At 12:30 the racing stopped for a drivers meeting, at 1:30 the Race eliminations began. There was some great drivers, and cars running the numbers! The racing program finished with the top AMC Eliminator shootout at 4:40 till 5. The car show had come to an end as well, it was time for awards and door prizes at 5:30. Awards packed the pavilion and surrounding areas with AMC people!  After awards it was time for dinner for many, prepared by the Schneider brothers at the track! Then on to an evening of laughter and good stories. AMC RACES 2018, It's a good time for a great time! If you stayed home this year, for whatever reason, I invite you to attend next year.  We'll see you all at AMC RACES 2019! SH

I attended this event for my first time and really enjoyed it. Just a thought, not trying to cause problems - what if we moved the event around a little, like AMO, and tried some different tracks.  It may bring in some people that don't make Cordova but may also hamper some attending, depending on distance.  There is the track by Kenosha, Brainerd, we even have a NHRA 1/4 mile track in Fargo.  I understand the tradition behind the event but it is just a thought.  I would also like to thank the Halverson's for an absolute ton of work they invested in making the event the success it was and am more than willing to assist in any way I can for next year.  Next year I will bring my 10 second Hornet instead of the swap meet.  Again, thanks to all, it is much appreciated.  Dean

Big shout out to the Halversons for putting on a terrific event. Our journey started on Friday morning at 9 am we only made it 1 hr away and my dads 69 javelin that we put together in a week was having issues with a vibration when we pulled over for whatever reason i opened the hood even though he said it was coming from the rear, not related to vibration issue but when i opened hood found a major fuel line leak coming from Mr. Gasket dual feed line. Had to run to an Oreillys and purchase a different one. Back on the road on WI/ IL border stopped for gas when we went to leave again problems with Javelin starter came loose but not the mounting bolts the T25 torque screws for clocking the PowerMaster mini starter.... back on the road now this is where the AMC community shines and helped us out. We arrived at 5 pm now mind you this was only supposed to be a 3hr 45min drive but with the issues and vibration only allowing Javelin to do 60mph it was a long day and seeing all the AMC's on the road there was a new sense of excitement.
We went through tech and got to talking to a couple guys about our tavels, when i mentioned about vibration and said how i believed it was coming from twin grip i had put in Thurs. night, and didnt have correct shims Chopper Bob sent us to in his words the Texan's race team who sent us to another trailer who had a bag full of shims AWESOME!  Vibration gone lets go racing. Sat. morning very first pass of the day my bother in his yellow 72 Hornet was in right lane against a beautiful Rebel in left, when the track shut the race down due to an accident everyone was okay but the Rebel not so much My sympathies go out to that family. I line up next to my dads Javelin after track was cleaned and made my first pass smoking my dad or should i say he was smoking(the clutch) now at 930 sat morn i made it my mission to get his car back on the road once more after all we still have to get home

So with a bunch of phone calls and multiple trips through the AMC part store just steps away we came up with this combo a T10 pressure plate and a trip to Advanced Auto in Iowa to pick up a 1969 Ford Mustang 5.0 11" HD 1-1/16"x 10 spline clutch kit. We mated the T10 pressure plate with the mustang clutch disc and was able to make a successful test drive 5min before the street class call out where he made a 95mph pass, clutch good, no leaks,  no vibration didn't win but we bought him back in and made a second pass 14 at 100 mph where he lost only due to reaction time. Thank to all who helped us out and once more for last minute throwing this event together it was a blast. cant wait for next year going to get street slicks to help push me into 11s.

It is good to hear you had a nice time and enjoyed yourself at the First Annual AMC RACES!I stopped in at your table a couple times, but you were out and about. You had lots of cool parts out!

A lot of thought goes into planning and organizing an event like this, many things help to make a decision where it can be held. Attendance is the most important. In making the decision to help the hobby succeed, we chose to keep things more helpful to the general group of AMC people.

That sounds great to hear you'll be bringing out you race car! It'll be great to see it on the track! Thank You for attending, we'll forward to seeing next year!SH

It sounds like you had a exciting trip down! It was nice to get a chance to visit with you, your dad and brother. You did a great job getting the Javelin back in motion for the eliminations! I'm sure next year will be a little easier, as you'll know what to expect more. It was good Chopper hooked you up with the Texans, and they got you to Greg Cockrell for the shims!
