Does anyone know of someone who replaces the bushing in the front spring seat saddles?

It's not that hard to do yourself...

Yep can be done easy by grilling them on the top rack with the lid closed on low to raise enough heat to make them start to smoke. Use a wide jaw plier with a towel wrapped around the tube and wack the pin through with a wood block. Took all but 15 minutes once the they were in the grill, removed and pins driven out.

Notice I said wood block... Once the rubber smokes, it will be soft enough to press out by hand.

Those replacement bushings are almost impossible to find.
You may look into using a 1988 Mazda 323 GTX lateral link and press out the bushings to fit inside your tube of the perch. Problem is you will spend about $50 in the two links.

You may get lucky and find a car at pick and pull, some have the energy suspension bushings to grab.

The replacement bushing are readily available.   FYI, when replacing the bushing, be sure to look to see if the sleeve t is tack welded in a couple of spots.  I have seen this once or twice.

If you are pressing out the bushing, be sure to put a piece of wood cut to fit the width of the spring perch.  That way it does not get bent under the pressure.  Old pieces of hardwood flooring is what I use to make a custom fit.

Otherwise, burn out the rubber with propane torch and then remove the pin.  Then cut out the remaining sleeve to replace with the new one.

Amazon normally has the bushings available. Today they're $31.

Not sure why the link doesn't seem to work, but search Amazon for Rare Parts RP15151

Summit also lists the Delco version for the same price:  ACDELCO 45G8029

I have looked over and over and over for the FB619, ACDelco 45G8029, the Dorman version, ENE2048G

and 5601029 Raybestos.  NONE available anywhere.

I know you can get a set from Rare Parts RP15151 but hate to pay $225 for a set.  Wish I could find 4 bushings and I'd just rebuild these myself.

For that kind of money you could look at this, but it looks like there is a significant wait time as yours are rebuilt.

There was supposed to be a urethane bushing that fits.

Those bushings are no longer available separately. You have to buy this kit that includes them. This is all I use when rebuilding these.

The number I had for the urethane saddle bushings is a #4.2132 (R or G) depending on color. It's originally a Ford truck shackle bushing.

CARnivore (love the name), do you just burn out the rubber and leave the metal sleeves in place to support the urethane?  Any squeak issues?

Thanks for the advice!

I have usually pressed out what I can of the rubber and then burn whats left and finish with a small wire wheel. For lubricant I like to use a heavy moly graphite type anti-sieze, it seems to cling and maybe penetrate the poly I guess cause i have had no squeaking issues. You can add a grease fitting to the middle of the housing for insurance once you get the rubber out

DO you know what the dimensions of the poly bushings in the "John Elle" fix were?

For the pre-1964 American suspension bushings I used a ridetech bushing, 90001596, which I thoguht so generic they'd still be available, but they're gone from their product page, no results from a search. I find it hard to belive a simple flanged bushing is not findable.

The 90001596 part was .75" OD, .625 ID, maybe an inch long. Sheesh, now I have to find a replacement for my replacement for the early AMerican suspension.

That sucks.  Somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind I seem to recall that the bushing only is still available (another application) and you can re-use the center support.  But then again, maybe I've had too much coffee today.

I'm not sure that's really possible, unless it's bad coffee.

The bushing shouldn't be hard to locate, ID of the outer sleeve, OD of the rod, they're usually cheap enough for experimental buy. Chop and cut!

The part number I posted was supposed to be the replacement for the old John Elle piece.

Not sure... but originally it was a Mazda 323 rear link bushing replacement part number. That number was discontinued almost 10 years now, so it may be recycled into newer parts numbers. Not sure, but I purchased the 323 bushings over 15 years ago, as seperates, no grease, no instructions.

Huh, I thought I posted this last night....

https://www.suspension.com/universal-bushings.asp" rel="nofollow - https://www.suspension.com/universal-bushings.asp

That's just one site that popped up on one google search for 'flanged poly bushing'. Select bushings by dimension. I've done this multiple times, and they're cheap enough to experiment.

Here are pics of the kit I referenced earlier that has the 2048 correct bushings along with a spare housing I have laying around. 17 bucks on amazon. You do have to grind off an inner lip on the opposite side of the housing for proper fit
