Cannot find my previous post, so again wondering IF anyone has found bolts to use as plugs when removing the air tubes from the exhaust manifold?  Local big hardware had nothing?!?  YEARS back I bought some for my 74 Javelin, but trying to figure out how to plug those holes.
Also the air tube on the 77 Pacer is brazed and I'll get picts later today.  Thanks for any ideas.
Blessings
Richard

The new aftermarket manifolds come with pipe thread plugs.

I don't know how many engines are like this,  but on my 360,  they were the same as my spark plugs.

If you really want to confuse someone, just install old spark plugs, and wire them up.

On my AM V8 they were a 9/16" bolt, I forget the thread count. They were hard to find, I finally got some at a local small old school hardware store. Like Tom says, spark plugs thread in too.

V8 are 6/16-UNC. Helps to put a copper washer under them.

Six cylinder are smaller, but also fine thread. 7/16-UNC maybe? They don't really have the boss around the bolt hole that the V8s do though, so sealing them with a gasket washer doesn't work very well. That's why I suggested a pipe thread plug.

You're talking about the AIR injection manifolds, right? Don't bother looking for it. Just order a drain plug for a 1964 J-100. Should be Dorman 65231.

1/4" socket head pipe plugs with copper washers:

This is for most manifolds. I did find a Jeep that needed 1/8" pipe plugs.
These go on flush with the boss and look better then a bolt and washers, my opinion.

Richard, I'm still interested in your smog tubes if you can post a pic.  Big smile

It seems to me the last exhaust manifold I plugged used Pip fittings, small ones and they were the correct thread. But it was an Eagle Exhaust pipe.

Roger, I'll get picts today.  Over at my Gremlin buddys house picking parts for mine, noticed that a few of his 75-78 Gremlins have smog tubes too that appear to be brazed..  Jackpot woo hoo so to say?!?
