Would anyone here be interested in reproduction Headlight doors for the SC/360? I have been speaking with a vendor who does reproduction work for classic cars about creating a new injection mold to make these. I've seen this vendor's work and it is fantastic - it's the same person who did the Spirit AMX Front Air Dams and several other pieces for our cars.

These would be molded in black plastic and would not come painted. I'll be providing the NOS pair to use for the prototyping, and the price would be $160/set + S/H for repro doors. I need 15 sets spoken for to get this moving- what does everyone here think?

Another product I'd like to see reproduced is tail light lens for Hornets. But I'll be happy with head light bezels for now... save my NOS ones for a very rainy day...

Come on guys! There's got to be more than 11 early Hornet's that need these bezels.

Thanks Steve, I agree, when parts available it is best to take pick them up because oftentimes they aren't available again. These would take 4-5 weeks to prototype and be available after that. We're almost there!

Actually, it is. They have had my nos set for about a year and do keep in contact. I can't say when they will be ready but I will add you to the list.

I don't need them, but put me down for a set if it will help the project. I can sell them later, I guess. If not, I'll store them in the building that housed your tires.

It depends on the cost. I have a friend who has been looking for a good set for a while (he's doing an SC/360 clone).  If the price is exorbitant, I don't think he'd be interested.

Pricing is 160/set plus shipping. I am not making any money on these, just passing my cost on.

Thanks for the interest everyone. This project is still happening...just slowly! The first mold that was made did not work correctly, so a second is being made now. The vendor has been in contact with me regularly and thinks we might see the first prototype this fall. I'll add the new folks to the list and keep everyone updated as I learn more.

good timing - i just spoke with the vendor last night and he said he thinks I might have prototypes yet this month.

Price is around $150/pair. I will have a firm price once we have the pre-orders confirmed. I am not making any money on these, just arranging the reproduction process.

Great news! The prototypes arrived yesterday! First inspection they look very nice. I will be test fitting them in the coming days and sending feedback to the vendor. These are injection molded and will probably require a little finishing like sanding mold lines and painting. The material is a little more pliable than the originals I'd say, but this actually makes them nicer than the originals which are somewhat brittle.

I've shipped the first 10 pairs of the reproduction doors as of today, and will have just a few spare sets available from the second batch. After the second batch I can't guarantee that these will still be available - vendors may pick them up, but also keep in mind that I am not marking up the cost, so they will likely cost more from the vendors if they decide to offer them. I will not be buying any more after the second batch.

If you want a set please contact me ASAP.

Cost is $160+$20 shipping.

I don't remember hearing anything about how they ended up fitting etc? Did you get them tested on your car? Any comments on fit and quality?
Thanks...Ty

I test fit them on a 1971 hornet wagon and they fit very good. The finish is very nice, as well. They will require painting and detailing of course, but I am very happy with the quality of the finished product.

I've got the set of these here ready for shipment or delivery to AMO Auburn. Cost is $160 + $20 shipping.

Darrin, if your friend wants this set I could possibly send them with Tony at the AMO show and avoid shipping.
