Hello,
My father bought an eagle last year.
3 of the 4 boots on the from axles are leaking. One has already been replaced with a split one (with the screws)
We disassembled the boots to get the dimensions and order new parts. the inner part has a triangular shape. Could you please let me know where I can find these? (I did not find them on Rockauto)
here is the picture:

(Units are cm not inches)

I did find these add on ebay:

But is it safe to buy an NOS part for rubber parts, is the rubber still good after all these years?

Or should I better buy complete rebuilt or new axles?
What would you advise?
Thanks in advance
Guillaume

I have a couple of the NOS boots like that "just in case" and it's good I bought them as I noted a few weeks ago that one of the new axles (new about 6 years ago) has a boot that keeps getting "wet with grease".
I can say yes - IF they have been boxed and not stored near welders or heavy electrical equipment. The rubber of the boots I have is fine, pliable, just as good as original.

Reman axles are generally ok - I've used both new and reman axles and have only had a couple of issues with reman - one issue was that the metal cap wasn't staying in place on one, and another right out of the box had a badly dinged up end where that large nut goes on the outer end. It's different threads than my other axles and I'm going to have to go out and buy a die to rethread it or take it to a machine shop to be fixed. I didn't note the damage until a couple of years after buying them. I was ok as I had a couple of other new axles on hand but I was disappointed that a reman axle supposedly inspected and checked and all reconditioned left their plant with the outer end badly bunged up.

But if your joints are ok and you feel comfortable with it, I'd go for the NOS boots, some eBay sellers are selling decent stuff like that and I personally would be willing to take that chance - and I have, and had decent luck.
If nothing else, politely contact the seller and ask questions - some of them would rather you do that than buy and complain later, never having asked a single thing about their parts.

In any case you are doing absolutely the right thing and asking the right questions.  Good luck and enjoy! Eagles are cool fun cars.

Try ones for an early '80s S10 4x4.
