Sure had a great time at last year's show. Looking forward to a better show this year. Found parts at the swap meet last year that made my life much less hectic. Bought a 904-998 automatic transmission kickdown linkage that I badly needed. I also won via of the raffle a front timing cover gasket set that I was just about to have to go out and buy. How neat was that? Wink

Hmmmm.  Is this an event where I can bring my crappy looking Gremlin ??  Or is this mostly for restored and nice-looking originals ??  I don't want to stink up the party by bringing a hooptie that wrecks the average for the rest of the group.

My crappy looking Gremlin will be there with bells on. All AMCs are welcome to this show. It's about celebrating the car brand and a place where owner's can tell their tall tales of rescuing something special from the jaws of oblivion! And yes, the really nice cars we don't get to see very often will be there too!

Check out the pictures from last year's show to get an idea about what kind of cars show up. Great time to check out the vendors and swap meet for those items you can't find just anywhere. Wink

My 64 American will be there sporting the first paint job I have ever done. It will be so-so but it will be fun to show it anyway.

Well said Art.  I swore that had to be Marty and Willa posting that for a laugh, but apparently not.  Might be Mr. Gaus though, not sure ; ).  Sorry for the delay in responding, have been at a conference and unable to post for days.  Yes, all conditions of AMC and AMC related makes are welcome.  When we say drive it, drag it or tow it, we mean it Big smile.  If you want to bring a Gremlin (or any AMC) with a different color on every body panel, we've got open arms for you.  It's about getting these cars out, appreciated and enjoyed, no matter the condition.  If you don't encourage the folks who can't yet afford that body work and paint job (i.e. me), then how do you expect to grow and keep interest in these cars and help preserve them?

I've had less time than last year to devote to things so far this year, but it seems word is getting out pretty well already.  I've already had 16 or 17 e-mail or verbal confirmations on attendance and that's way early on to get them for an event.  Combine that with the ones here so far and we're well underway.  Last year, I had the majority of folks contacting me within the last two to three weeks leading up to the event date, several even the day or two before.  If this year's early contact is any indicator we should have a great turn out for sure.

As a reminder, you are welcome to attend without bringing your car if it just isn't feasible to.  A great deal of the day is for seeing old friends, making new ones and getting those all-important contacts to aid you in being able to bring your car the next time.  Also, please bring any parts you want to sell or swap.  There was a great swap/sale section last year and I know of one pick-up that showed up full and went home with only one part left in the bed.

I hope to be working on a t-shirt design within the next few days.  I have a closet full of white show shirts, so am thinking about going with a black or grey this year.  It will increase the price most likely, as I'll need to use white as an ink color, but hopefully they'll be about the same price as last year.  Will noodle with it and let you know.

Gary, really looking forward to seeing you and that American.  It's shaping up that we may have quite the American line-up this year.

Ollie, I'm excited to have you folks coming from Mississippi.  That's exactly what we are hoping for is that folks from all over the South will start attending, as this show is only dubbed the East TX Cruise-In so folks will know where it's located, not to indicate it's just for our region.  Shoot me an e-mail at ratliffr@centralisd.com and I'll get you on our e-mail member list for all things AMC.  Include a picture or two of that American if you will.

Pacer, Marlin and Matador folks, we need you.  Really hoping to see some of everything attend this year and we've not had representation from these so far.

Well, back to work for me folks and keep the postings coming, keep us at the top of the forum event list for everyone to see and keep flying and driving the red, white and blue proudly.
Reagan

If you still have T-Shirts from last year, I'm interested. I really like the design and could use a couple more if the size is right. If they are really huge, I guess I could use some as a car cover for the Gremlin! LOL

Nope, the t-shirts were a total sell out last year. As far as I know there are still a couple of XL or XXL's left from 2012 that Tom has down in Houston he could bring up. I'll check to make sure they're still there. Oh and thanks, I liked the design too ; ).

This will be the year AMC enthusiasts celebrate 60 years of AMC. I think it fitting we all get together to show our cars and talk AMC. I'm also excited about seeing what parts show up for the swap meet. I never need anything, but always see something I can't live without. I'm sure the rest of you know what I mean.
Here's an article at Hemmings about the 60 years of AMC:

Just a quick update for everyone on the t-shirt design for this year.  I'm hoping these upload clearly enough.  We are switching things up and going with black shirts this year.  The prices are set to be the same as last year: Adult small through XL = $15 and XXL = $17.50.  You will pay for your event t-shirt at the meet, so no up front money is required to order.  Proceeds from the shirt sales goes directly to offsetting event expenses, so order a bunch and maybe we can even get the price per shirt lower ; ).  If you have not already responded with your shirt order, please do so ASAP, as I need to lock in our orders' sizes and quantities before the end of the week if possible. Here are the front and back designs:

Event registration form is now available.  Please, contact me and I'll e-mail you the registration form.   We need to know how many will be attending in order to properly plan the event, so help us out and register today.  If you are unable to bring a vehicle this year, drop me a line anyway so I know you are coming, as that will help us plan out the amount of food and drinks.  My wife has announced that we will be serving brisket sandwiches, chips, drinks and desserts.  Family, friends, food and AMCs, you will not find a better deal anywhere come May 10th Wink

Could you post some pictures from the 2014 event ?

Have been gathering up some pictures to post here as I once again hardly had time to take any.  I so far have this link kindly provided by Ollie and Teresa Patterson who drove their convertible American over from Jackson, Mississippi to attend the event.  Super nice folks and a super nice car.

https://picasaweb.google.com/105289957504618032267/2014AmericanMotorsEastTexasCruiseIn#" rel="nofollow - https://picasaweb.google.com/105289957504618032267/2014AmericanMotorsEastTexasCruiseIn#

I want to thank everyone who attended and made this another successful year for the event.  Fully half of the vehicles in attendance were new to the event and there were some great ones.  We also had tons of great parts brought for sale or swap, but I'll post more event details a little later in the week.

For now I would really like to thank my wife Misty for all her hard work in making this event happen.  Without her, it wouldn't be possible to put the event on in the first place.  I'd also like to thank our boys and my father-in-law, Dean Pena, for their work in preparing for the show and tearing down and cleaning up afterwards.  As always, a thank you to the Hanks family for the loan of pop-ups, tables and chairs and to our local AMC families Lyman and Marsha Eppley and Marty and Willa Roberts for lunchtime and door prize donations.  Thanks also to Tim Gould and Tom Taylor for their assistance in prepping for the show.

We did sell out of t-shirts at the event, but did take orders for some additional ones to be made up post event for those wanting them.  If you did not get an event shirt and are still wanting one and did not give me your order info at the event, please contact me by this Friday afternoon to be included in the additional printing run.  The cost will still be $15 per shirt in adult men's small through XXXL (no upcharge for the larger sizes).  We'll figure out your picking them up or mailing costs as needed.  Don't delay, contact me today ; )

More to come as I get more pictures from the event.
Thanks again everyone,
Reagan

I've posted photos at the Facebook page I made for this event:
http://www.facebook.com/groups/amceastxcruisein/" rel="nofollow - https://www.facebook.com/groups/amceastxcruisein/

Having some last minute health issues made me almost miss this event. But I have to say I sure enjoyed it and want to thank Reagan and his wife for putting on the best car show I've been to irregardless of manufacturer. On the 60th Anniversary of AMC this was a great show with some of the most interesting cars I've seen. Thumbs Up

If it makes you feel better I don't have a Twitter account. I understand though, you can't do everything everyone else does or you won't have time to work on the AMC! Shocked
