I want to stroke a 401. I have been told I could get as much as 452ci out of one? If this is true, what parts and machining are needed and what is the most power this thing could develop? and will it run on pump gas?

Sure you can build them that big or bigger. Lots of things to deal with there.....play safe and go with a 4.185-4.195 bore and 3.8,3.85 stroke and you'll be happy with around 418-426ci ------------- SC/Hurst Rambler 11.62 120 100% Street Legal |

That's what I am opting for with my 69 390. I had the crank offset ground to produce a stroke of 3.80 (3.574 exactly) with a 2.000 journal .010 under making 1.990. Then I bought a set of 6 inch eagle rods. Ordered a custom set of pistions from Auto-tec and this whole assembly will make about 419 cubes. While you could go bigger, it may not help all that much unless you're going to port and polish the heads. I have a set of Edelbrocks that will be "opened up" to produce enough flow to make use of the extra cubes. In the end, I am hoping for mid 500's HP motor with a rebuilt TF998 (toggle switch to control the lockup converter) to drop into my 81 Spirit. ------------- 1981 Spirit (420 cu in stroker - 570 hp) 1966 Ford Fairlane Convertible (331 Cu In - 450 HP) |

Depending on what it is, I have 4 suppliers I typically use: 1. Summit Racing - hi-perf equipment. They have a tech dept that isn't too bad. 2. Streetsideauto.com - hi-perf stuff, sometimes cheaper than Summit. 3. race-mart.com - hi-perf stuff and many times cheaper for the other two. Plus, if you have a question, Ron (I think that's his name) knows what's going on. So, he can make some decent recommendations. 4.
