Hi everyone. This thread was previously the AMC Riverina Rambler Raid but the show is gaining some pretty good momentum and many have indicated that really the show should become an Australian and/or National event where ALL clubs, forum members, individuals and anyone else interested in AMC/Ramblers can get together each year and meet up and enjoy the amazing and rare cars we have. It will now be advertised everywhere from now on as;

1st annual Australian AMC/Rambler show
& AMC 60th anniversary celebration

Thread fomerly titled "Official invite to COTM 2014". I thought a formal name for our AMC participation at COTM sounded good Tongue

"Chryslers on the Murray" (COTM) is an awesome car show held in Albury on the NSW/VIC border each year. The show has been going since the early 90's and is now the biggest Chrysler show outside of the USA with around 700 cars and over 10,000 people attending the event. Although they have always been welcome I am pleased to announce AMC's are now OFFICIALLY invited to attend this great event as of next year including having our own area put aside to show the 10,000 plus spectators what great cars AMC made. Keep the weekend of 15th/16th March 2014 in your calender and let's make it also the largest AMC show outside of the USA. Stay tuned to this post for more details. This should be fun Tongue

I will be contacting the various AMC clubs and adding more details on forum as time goes on but for some information please see;   http://www.chryslersonthemurray.com/" rel="nofollow - http://www.chryslersonthemurray.com/

Although it is all early days yet I welcome ANY ideas for example I am looking at locating a very large AMC flag to put up. Also will be looking into if Jim Richards Javelin is available for the show etc etc plus each year the Chryslers have a theme ie Chargers one year, R and S Valiants the next etc but for our first year I would like to attract at least one of EVERY model AMI/AMC made/assembled ie at least one Classic, Marlin, Ambassodor, Rebel, Hornet, AMX, American, Javelin, Matador, Matador X, Gremlin, Pacer etc and even some that AMI didn't make such as an Eagle, Concorde etc

This is our chance ladies and gentlemen to show what special cars we have got to such a big established audience. Let's do it! Tongue

Awesome mate! American = 1 Smile Cars come from all over Australia for this show and it really is worth it. We might have a look at getting everyone into the same motel, as a big part of the weekend is the socialising. There is a motel up the road from me which I reckon would be perfect for an AMC invasion so I will have a chat with them to see if we can get a group discount for everyone. The Chrysler club is actually getting excited about our AMC invasion and will have a nice area set aside for all of our cars. The cars at the show don't have to be perfect showcars by any means and many original unrestored Chryslers attend as well as many everyday drivers so if you are thinking of bringing your car don't for a minute think it won't be worthy coz ANY old car is worth looking at in my books. Can't wait to see a heap of AMC's together!!! TongueSmileTongue

I've been to COTM in 2011 and 2012 when I lived in Albury. In hindsight I could have taken my '66 Classic Hardtop when I still had it and been the only AMC there! For a while I thought I was the only AMC owner in the area until I saw a Matador one day haha

Yeah the AMC/Ramblers have always been welcome to COTM but it has never really been advertised as such until now. We have now been officially invited and we will have our own designated area to display our cars and I will be helping with this. You are right about Albury there doesn't seem to be too many local AMC's or is there?. There is a red Javelin in Jindera and there was a maroon 75 Hornet running around up until a couple of years ago but the rest are either in people's sheds or there just arnt any around here? Will be great to see you down here Pokerchip in your 64 and will be good to see as many of the forum members with their cars so we can put a face to the forum member. Yeah it's early days but I thought it would be good to get the ball rolling so people have plenty of time to make arrangements and/or finish off cars etc. Can't wait! Smile ANY ideas, suggestions please put it up on this thread. If you are in a club have a word with your other AMC/Rambler owners about the day as we could really make something of this Smile

I must put this date on my calender, March is usually a quiet month in my books so it is a possibility that my wagon and myself could attend. I have always wanted to make it to that show.

Out of curiosity I just plugged it into the Tomtom, 3496km for me (each way), would be a heck of a road trip, but as mentioned in the other thread, a few of the local Chrysler guys make the trip over each year.
My old man actually drove my Javelin from Tassie to Perth when I brought it back in 2006. It survived the trip with no major issues except for one flat tyre and a spare that went square not long afterwards.

Well its only 1400km approx. from Lismore, where my Rambler is, to Albury. I drove from Albury to Lismore in one 14 hr marathon once. Next time I will make a road trip of it I think

EDIT: 70Hornet, I noticed you are marketing this COTM thing alot LOL You should think about coming up to the Gold Coast for the Cooly Rocks festival during the Queens Birthday weekend. Last year we had about 17 AMC Ramblers lined up, hopefully more this year.

It's 378 kilometers drive for me. The furthest I have driven in my Rambler in one hit is 150 clicks!!!
Might as well come up though.

Wow I didn't realise Australia is so wide!Shocked   I can ask the Chrysler club organisers to pass on the phone numbers of anyone else bringing their cars over so that you might be able to share the adventure together if you are interested? Same goes for anyone else from way up north or from the centre who is thinking of making the trip to the show next year Smile.

Hope this isn't toooooooooo long but grab a coffee and enjoy a read of this shortened version  LOL
Hi Pokerchip. Yeah I am plugging this COTM thing as I attended it the other week and for the 4th year in a row not 1 AMC!!! which got me thinking there is really no show in OZ that has ever pushed the AMC thing to it's full potential Cry. I am not a member of any club but I am looking at joining the Chrysler club in the near future purely to help organise the AMC's each year at COTM and grow it until it is a 'must do' event for anyone with an AMC which currently we do not have. Also with such a large audience (over 10,000 spectators last few years in a row) it could only help the AMC hobby and get more people interested to help preserve what AMC's are left. I have been thinking of other car shows that may be more suitable but not many seem to cover all bases. COTM is held in a good location between the 2 largest populated cities in OZ.  The already established spectators. And our cars fit well into the theme of the show as AMC's have been part of the Chrysler family tree ever since they were bought out in 87.  Cooly only let's cars in up to a certain year which rules out later models and especially any late Concordes/Eagles etc that may come out of the woodwork. Bright Rod run has the most amazing atmosphere of any car show I have been to but it also only caters for cars up to 64. Then I thought of the Shannons Aussie and American car shows at Flemington racecourse in Melbourne which are also 2 of the best I have been to but again they don't cover all bases. The Aussie one get's a few AMC's but only allow Aussie assembled which rules out many. The American car show (and there is one in Canberra as well) also get's a few AMC's but they just seem to be swallowed up by all the other big American cars. COTM covers all years, and our AMC's will make a nice contrast with the Aussie/American Chryslers with our own designated area right near the front entrance!Tongue. I think we may even develop a freindly rivalry with the Chryslers guys in a fun way Smile  There is no reason the Rambler Nationals couldn't also be run at COTM in the future!! Would make it a lot easier on the Rambler clubs to organise as the venue/food/insurance etc etc is already done and all that AMC owners would need to do is turn up and show off our pride and joys to a much bigger audience then at a solely AMC show where we would be just preaching to the converted and to a smaller audience.  For those interested in trophies the Chrysler club is even going to supply trophies for our Rambler Raid next year or 1st annual AMC/Ramblers on the Murray whichever way you want to look at it Big smile Should be a fun day. No politics. No pressure. No hassles. Just a fun day to get together for a chat and show off our original, unrestored, ratrod, show, race or whatever other type of AMC car is out there. Look forward to meeting a few of you guys and seeing your cars Smile sorry for such a long essay but it really is the shortened version LOL

Oh and Cooly is on my bucket list for sure. My Hornet is still about 2 years away from being finished (although we all know I should double this along with the budget LOL) and I am going to put a towbar on it and a vintage caravan from around 1970 and travel a fair bit to Cooly in QLD, WA Chrysler show etc. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH dreaming again but it will happen Tongue

That would be great! I am not sure if entry forms have been released yet but I will indicate on forum when they are. Road trip to show is about 3 1/2 hrs from melbourne. 5 ish from Sydney and I think about 10hrs from Adelaide. I am really getting excited about seeing a heap of AMC's together! Clap

The first annual AMC/Ramblers on the Murray/ COTM Rambler Raid wouldn't be right without the Fripp boys LOL would be great if you could make it and maybe even set up a RamblerSpares stall at swap meet?

I shall talk with Jeff about it. We can surely put a few guys together and head down in a convoy. Many years ago we organised 9 AMC's from Sydney to Adelaide and returned all in 3 days. The Hay plains was a fun drive.

A convoy of AMC's from Sydney would be tops Steve Tongue Talking of convoy's if you are reading this WesternRed I was talking to 1 of the organisers and apparently there is 5 or so Chryslers that make a regular pilgrimage over for the COTM so I can get their details if you would like and I am sure they would love to eat a Javelin's dust all the way along the Nullabor LOL I reckon you would feel like Mad Max flying along the Nullabor, windows down in the Javelin.
COTM entry forms will be available through COTM website as of June for all those interested.

Just been looking into how many AMC/Rambler clubs there are in Australia, so I can contact them  about the Chrylers on the Murray, but there doesn't seem to be too many? or is there? I have just had a look through the back of Just Cars etc and I have on my list;
#AMC Rambler club of Australia- Colin Main 03 93090601
#Rambler club of WA- Bob Tiedtke 08 92944597
#AM Javelin register- Dianne Wilson 03 9774 0343

and that seems to be all? or is there more? If there are some I missed (and I am sure there is)please add to the list on this thread with some club contact details. This will not only be for me to contact them regarding the 2014 COTM but will also be informative for other people reading this forum and looking into joining one of these clubs who have an AMC/Rambler or are looking at getting one.

Also Rod Taylor who is one of the COTM organisers has said ALL new advertising regarding the COTM in the future will mention that there is now an AMC/Rambler section Smile

Well it's official, tonight I took one for the AMC team LOL and joined the local Chrysler club with the sole purpose of getting as many AMC's together at the COTM and hopefully making it the biggest AMC get together and a 'must do' event for anyone interested in AMC/Ramblers each year. The Albury/Wodonga Chrysler club seem to be a top bunch of people and enthusiastic about including our AMC's into the COTM. They have a general meeting once a month (which I attended tonight) so if you have any questions feel free to pop it up on forum or to me as a PM and I can bring it up at these meetings. IE any suggestions, questions etc. If there are any other AMC related clubs I should contact (that I didn't previously mention) feel free to put them up on forum as well and I will contact them in the near future plus they could be reference for other forum members out there. Again we have our own area at the show plus the Chrysler club has other activities over the weekend if you want to get into the cruising and socialising as well as the show

Rod Taylor still has that 67 Rebel Wagon for parts if anyone is interested. His number can be found on the COTM website (which will very soon mention and advertise the inclusion of AMC/Ramblers).

I don't think there is much chance of me making the trip over from the west, but you never know. Rambler Club of WA has their AGM in a couple of months, so I will try to remember to bring this up, but if you contact Bob in the meantime that would be good. We have enough trouble geting more than a few cars to turn up to local events so getting them to drive across the Nullabor will be interesting.

No dramas at all mate. It will be an annual thing for AMC's from now on so maybe another year the Javelin might mad max it across the nullabor. I will try to contact Bob from WA club soon and the other clubs such as the Hudson one above (some very nice cars in that club). I will have to clarify with the Chrysler club at the next meeting if pre AM cars are being accepted such as the Hudsons etc or just American Motors cars and AMC, AMI Ramblers. I can't see there will be an issue but I better ask first. Definatly all imported American and Australian assembled AMC, AMI Ramblers are welcome at the show Smile

No, missed that one unfortunatley as I had been planning to go. The Nostalgia Drags were postponed the week before due to rain and the re-run clashed with the Whiteman Park show. Can't be in two places as once unfortunatley.

Well I am officially a local Chrysler club member now having recieved my membership card the other day Smile they know I am there purely there to help organise an AMC section at each years Chryslers on the Murray. What do people think of the name '2014 AMC Riverina Rambler Raid'? Any other ideas? I was thinking maybe just '2014 AMC Rambler Raid' or '2014 AMC Rambler Run' etc?  I have bought 2 large 'AMC' flags to display each side of our area which are pretty big and is broken up horizontally with Red/White/Blue with a big AMC in the middle which should make our presence known. Any other ideas? IE an AMC history board with pics of all models? Looking forward to it and this show, along with Cooly, each year should make for 2 'must do' events for those interested in AMC's whether owners or spectators, which is something AMC enthusiasts have been missing Smile

I like 'Riverina Raid' personally. I have a couple of banners myself (that I forgot to bring to Cooly!) with American Motors and Javelin (I cant really remember) that I can bring down. I think a history board will be a good addition, but only if we can get a good selection of Ramblers lined up.

Now I just have to find someone to drive my American down for me, because if all goes well, I will be driving my latest purchase down Big smile

New ride? Smile are you going to let it out what it is? Tongue Yeah any flags, banners etc would be great for the AMCRR. I will be encouraging any, and all, of the clubs to set up a display to promote their club (feel free to bring up hand-outs etc) and we may even hire a tent which could also house some small display pictures of each model from the 50's right up to 1987. So even if we don't get an example of each model there will be a picture to fill in any gaps for people to look at of each throughout the years and some basic easy to read history of AMC and AMI.

The latest issue of Street Machine (July) has a little blurb about having AMC/Ramblers at the Chryslers on the Murray in 2014 with a photo of Aussie AMX's number 17 and number 1 together. It is on page 40 and the issue has a black HQ Monaro on the cover.

Hi everyone. Chryslers on the Murray have officially started advertising the inclusion of AMC's for the Chryslers on the Murray show in 2014 on their website with lot's more to come Big smile Have a look at;

http://www.chryslersonthemurray.com/" rel="nofollow - http://www.chryslersonthemurray.com/

Chrysler HOME page on website has a picture of Huddy's AMX in the shed (mate that is one cool photo!) and a pic of one of the last Aussie assembled Ramblers being a red 1977 Matador. Hope it was OK that I copied and sent some pics from the Forum for inclusion on the website? They chose these 2 photo's for now but there will be many more familiar pics popping up here and there with all Chryslers on the Murray advertising mentioning the inclusion of AMC's. Wow it is going to be an exciting weekend Tongue  For further information regarding the show feel free to email the Chrysler club ( mailto:info@chryslersonthemurray.com" rel="nofollow - info@chryslersonthemurray.com )  and/or ask ANY questions over the forum. This show has the potential to be one of the largest AMC gatherings ever in Australia! and due to the large crowd that attends from all over Australia it will no doubt increase interest in our AMC/Ramblers and might help keep some more of these cars alive. I am really looking forward to meeting you all and seeing your cars Smile

Wow, what better way to start the 1st annual AMC/Ramblers show then with the 60th anniversary celebration of AMC Tongue  I will add this to any advertising I do for the show where possible. Does anyone have some extra ideas related to celebrating 60 years of AMC that they would like to see at show? I have acquired 2 A-frame display boards which I will fill with history pics and info on ALL AMC/AMI/Rambler vehicles for people at the show to look at. Photo's of all models, production numbers, clubs, ramblerspares info etc etc. I will be hanging a large AMC flag between these which should look pretty good Smile  Would love to try and get at least one example of each AMC made from 54 to 87. I know it would be near impossible to get one from each year but if we could get at least one example of each model name that would make a great display on the day. Is there any/many registered 80's AMC's out there?

Hello guys. Count me in. I've just booked time off work. I live only 2 hours from Albury. Are we all gunna haunt the same motel?I can't wait to take my Matador to the show and to meet some of you dudes. Hopefully I will be bringing a rello who's owned many a fine Rambler when they were new and plentiful( An AMX,couple of Javelins and X coupes). He recalls the AMX was white with black bonnet stripes and twin 4 barrels. Albury ain't a bad town to cruise. Will be a blast!!

I am looking into which motels don't usually get booked out for the weekend and will put them up on the forum very shortly so everyone can book early if they want to. Even if we don't all get into the same motels we could still organise a couple of meet ups for all the AMC owners on the friday night and saturday in one of the bigger car parks of somewhere like KFC at a designated time for a chat/cruise and dinner, or at the Kinross woolshed which is an old style pub just out of town, or the Hume weir etc etc. There is plenty to see and do and there will be plenty of opportunities to meet up. Just cruising the main street on the friday and saturday night we will no doubt run into a few other AMC guys. I have asked the club if we can send Albury/Wodonga tourist info packages when people put in their entry forms but I will also put up a list of things to do and places to go on the forum here and there. Apparently entry forms will be released very soon. The Chrysler club also has a few functions they organise over the course of the weekend and everyone is welcome to attend them as well. Sunday we will ultimatly be all together in our own AMC area which amazingly is right at the front where all the visitors come in on the bank of the lake. With all of our cars lined up it is going to be an amazing sight Tongue

Hi everyone. I have been looking into the accomodation in Albury/Wodonga for the 1st annual AMC Rambler Raid (60th AMC anniversary) weekend 15th/16th March 2014 and it looks promising at the moment. There is plenty of rooms in and around Albury but they do book out early so if we want to all get into the same motel and/or area it will pay to get in early and place a phone booking at the least. The real good news is that the Lake Hume resort still has plenty of rooms/units/cabins available. This would be THE perfect venue to invade Albury with our AMC's. It is about 10 minutes out of Albury at the Hume Dam so there is plenty to do and it is nice and quiet and plenty of areas to get together. Places to swim, water slide, mini golf, ice creamery, bbq areas (we could all meet for saturday bbq?) etc etc. They still have 10 motel rooms/5 one bed appartments, 3 two bed villas and 15 three bed cabins left although there is a wedding that weekend as well (who knows we might be able to sneak some AMC's into their photo's Tongue) plus the Chrysler show so it would pay to book early. If you are looking for something cheaper there is also a cabin/caravan and camping park next door which I havn't rang yet but I would gather would have plenty of vans left too.
Contact details are
#All Seasons Albury Lake Hume Resort (cabins/appartments/villa's etc)
http://www.lakehumeresort.com.au" rel="nofollow - www.lakehumeresort.com.au
Phone 6026 4444
 #Lake Hume tourist Park (cabins/caravan/camping)
02 6049 8100
#If you are after some accom in Albury the Albury Townhouse has rooms and is central and across from the historic Sodens Pub. Phone 6021 3000
(there is heaps of other caravan parks, motels etc in Albury/Wodonga but I have just mentioned these one's for if we want to congregate in the one area)

Hope this helps. I reckon the Lake Hume accomodation would be the best as it is picturesque, relaxing, plenty to see and do and only 10 minutes from Albury (the old Hume Weir race track is also out there but there isn't much of it left but we can sneak in for a look). It will pay to at least book early while there are the rooms available.

It should work out to be an amazing weekend and it will be great to finally have a MAJOR weekend  on the yearly calender to show off our AMC's to the general public and a show where ALL AMC's can get together regardless of club or type of car Tongue
I am really looking forward to it Big smile

Hey Jason, How's things mate. Just noticed how much your doing toward the Albury show and wanted to touch base to say well done. Looks like it's going to be a great weekend with heaps of AMC's - what a great event to look forward to. I'll be keeping an eye on that date and may make the trip down if possible although it won't be in an AMC yet. I haven't started the bodywork on the Javelin yet and the rebel is as it was when I got it....life is too bloody busy!!

How's the Hornet coming along? will it be on the road in March??

Anyway, keep up the work your doing on organising an annual AMC event to look forward to and who better to do it with than Chysler, you gotta love those Mopar's...

Yeah I thought it was time there was a big national show for all AMC's that we could all look forward to each year and this seemed like the best way to achieve this. The local Chrysler club that runs 'Chryslers on the Murray' each year is VERY enthusiastic about the inclusion of AMC's and really it is a win-win for us as we get a chance to show off our cars at such a well established show and they get more cars to their show which would no doubt equal an even bigger crowd of spectators from all over Australia (people even fly in from the states for this show). Smiles all round Smile and yeah all of our AMC's will look magic next to the Chrysler guys and girls. I am even hoping for some fun friendly rivalry on the weekend Wink. It will be good to meet up with many other AMC owners, enthusiasts and AMC forum members, as well as just being able to have a chat about our AMC's to the general public which might also help keep a few more of them on the road. My Hornet isn't getting anywhere at the moment though unfortunatly. Usual story, kids/work/life too busy here as well etc he he. I can't see it going until early 2015 at the earliest but I have been thinking of getting it going as a rat rod Hornet just to get it on the road. But just having my old Hornet in the garage is good enough for me at the moment. My kids love sitting in it and going for pretend cruises all the time Smile

Hi again

I am going away for a week. Taking my 6 year old up to Sydney as she is busting to walk over the Harbour Bridge etc Smile so if you PM me I may not reply until late next week. I will also send out a copy by snail mail of the COTM2104 Program/Entry forms to anyone who has requested one late next week as well.

On the forms it has a full program for the weekend plus a list of various entry fees if you would like your car in the show and judged or just be part of the show either on Saturday, Sunday or both etc. There is a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophy for best AMC/Rambler but you do not have to put your car in for judging nor does your AMC have to be a showcar. Your good old AMC can be a tatty old daily driver or unrestored original up to a Summernats top 20 car, they are all welcome to be part of this great show and also to help celebrate 60 years of AMC in 2014.   AMC 1954 to 2014

Hi everyone. I am back from holidays and have sent out the entry forms requested. There are plenty so if you are thinking of attending next year just pop me a PM and I can send one to you. Alternatively I will be sending copies to the various clubs in next couple of weeks so you should be able to acquire one from your fellow club members or Jeff at ramblerSpares or jump on the Chrysler show website. I was at the big Euroa carshow on sunday and ran into a few fellow AMC owners and their cars (2 door Hornet, 2 Door Ambassodor, 67 Marlin, Classic and a later Hornet). Great blokes and lady and looking forward to having a better chat with them at the 2014AMC/Rambler Raid. Any questions just pop them up on thread or PM me Smile

Hi everyone. Show has taken on a new title that really suits what the the show is trying to achieve. Please let me know what you think. Most people I have talked too have indicated that the show should be on a national level as it caters for ALL AMC/Rambler clubs, businesses, forum members and individuals to meet up once a year and put any and all differences aside and just enjoy these amazing and rare cars we have an interest in and show them off to the general public. I can't wait to see them all together and meet you all. It is going to be a great weekend for AMC/Ramblers in Australia Smile

I havn't contacted all the clubs yet and/or magazine's but I am slowly getting there. If you are in a club or know other individuals who have an interest in AMC/Ramblers be sure to let them know. An ad will be in Just Cars, Just parts. I have sent an email to Restored Cars, Cruzin, the Javelin Register, WA Rambler club etc. I still have to contact Unique Cars plus a few other magazine's, and the NSW Hudson/Nash/AMC club etc. Australian Muscle Car magazine is going to do an article on AMI/AMC/Rambler in the Jan/Feb issue and make a special mention of the 1st annual Australian AMC/Rambler show 2014 so look out for that one.  Any other ideas please let me know. This is going to be something special Smile

Thanks Dave. That would be much appreciated (see below for approx how I have been wording it for magazine's etc). I have a heap of entry forms here if you would like me to send some to you to give to your members. If so can you send through address. Also I have been talking with Aussie Muscle Car magazine and sent them a pic of your brothers AMX from the forum (the one with him photographing it on the road) as I think they are getting gee'd up about the history of AMI/AMC Rambler in Australia and will be wanting some cars to photograph. I will keep you posted and have mentioned your name, Jeff and Steve Fripp's, Bruce Neasesmith etc to help them with some of the history. They are also interested in doing an article on the one and only Rambler Gremlin that came through AMI so I will contact you when that comes up. Interesting times ahead for our cars Big smile

Actually I might start a new thread in next day or two regarding the Aussie Muscle Car magazine as they are after any info/evidence on the Kaplan Trans-Am Javelin, Mad Max AMX, Rambler Gremlin, plus more as time goes on. I am hoping they may even make the trip to the AMC/Rambler show where they will find many cars for any feature articles that they do in the future Tongue

That would be great and maybe add into the newsletter that any of your attending club members are most welcome to set up a display to advertise your club. ie flags, AMC/Rambler information, flyers, posters, newsletters, shirts and merchandise, etc etc and that goes for any other attending clubs and businesses. The more AMC flags, info etc the better to show ourselves off to the 10,000 plus visitors. And who knows you may pick up some more people for your club, and businesses like Ramblerspares etc (Jeff is hoping to get down for the show) would attract some more customers and customers from interstate will get to meet the club members and business owners face to face for a chat. Win-Win Smile

I have submitted naerly all the ads I can do to most major car magazines and other means so look out for them over the xmas/new year and heading towards March. Don't forget to get your entry forms in when you can. The first 300 entries for the Chrylser show recieve a pretty decent goodies bag too. If you don't have an entry form you can download one from the website http://www.chryslersonthemurray.com" rel="nofollow - www.chryslersonthemurray.com or send me a PM with your postal details and I can get one out to you.

Also I met a great couple down at Bright the other week who have a Hornet and are going to look into organising some social activities over the course of the AMC/Rambler show weekend. IE Places we can all meet up, cruise, bbq etc etc for if you are interested. Stay tuned for that as I will put details up on the forum as I get them Smile

Albury/Wodonga is a big place with lot's of Motels, Cabins, Caravan and camping etc. I can put up a bit of a list if needed? There is a small list on the entry forms. It may be hard to book in together as a large group by now but there should still be plenty of beds around the area Smile

Shouldn't be a problem at all. I have never heard of everything being fully booked out as there is plenty of accomodation throughout the area at all levels. It would only be a problem if you were in a large group and wanted to book into the same place. Hope to see you in March Smile

I had the replica dealer sign made especially for the show. It is a replica of the last dealer signs that stood out the front of AMC dealers in the US before Chrysler bought them out in 1987. Apparently some are still standing over there! They were much taller then this replica but it will still stand proud at the AMC/Rambler show in March and AMC/Rambler owners are most welcome to pop their car under for a photo. The Javelin in the photo is presumed to be 1 of the 2 'old stock' Javelins to be sold by AMI in 1972.

I talked to Jim Richards yesterday and if it wasn't for the Grand Prix he would have the Javelin at the show. He is suppliying us with some free posters of his new Javelin for AMC/Rambler owners on the day plus 300 for the goodies bags that go to the first 300 entrants to the show (they get 700 cars so be quick!). Nice bloke to talk to.

Don't forget to get your entry forms sent in too. Not long to go! :-)

Thanks again for putting the photo's up for me western red.

That's awesome guys! Smile There are many other great cars also joining in for the 1st annual AMC/Rambler show in March. I am very excited to announce that Australia's only registered Gremlin "GIZMO' is coming along with his Hornet. The little yellow Gremlin may even do a dyno run too which would be amazing to see and hear as it is does sub 10 second 1/4 miles with it's blown AMC 401ci. There is also the red 2 door Hornet in the Australian Muscle car magazine coming, Colin Main's Classic Hardtop and a 1963 Ambassodor Ute (yep you read that correctly) and possibly Gordon Pendlebury's Madame Lash hearse that was all but destroyed in the October fires which he will set up as display and will be very interesting to see. That's just to name a few cars such as Mick Gill's cool Matador, the 1 of 2 1972 plated 70AMI Javelin's plus many more. Wow, I can't wait Tongue

jeep never clean enough to enter, last minute probably rules us out from entering anyway. We used to enter the jeeps,as much to put all our gear inside the show and save heading to the carpark everytime we wanted something.

Entries or "Check in" for the show doesn't close until 11am on the sunday so it is OK to enter on the day if anyone wakes up saturday or sunday and has the urge to be in Albury/Wodonga and be part of the show. It just costs a couple of bucks more to enter on the weekend if you make the surprise visit Smile They just like the pre-entries so they can cater for approx numbers which is about 700cars each year.
AMC jeeps are most certainly welcome to be displayed in the AMC section that are made from when AMC bought the brand in 1970 to 1987 when Chrysler bought them out. There used to be a real neat and tidy everyday Wagoneer driving around Albury that I would love to get to the show but I havn't seen it for awhile?
Also don't for a minute think any car or jeep is not clean enough or not up to scratch to enter, we want to display them all!!! Smile whether detailed or in their working clothes. It doesn't matter if dirty, unrestored, restored, street machine, race car, trailer queen, everyday transport etc etc we want them all Tongue Seeing any AMC registered and driving is a bonus these days so to have a whole variety of AMC's in the one spot will be a rare sight. Also some of the roughest unrestored cars sometimes attract the most attention and admiration from spectators these days.
I will put up some more info in next day or too regarding times and what's on over the weekend. Less then 4 weeks to go!!! Tongue

Hi everyone. Less then 4 weeks to go until what should be the largest AMC/Rambler show ever held in Australia Tongue
Entry forms;
Edited 10th March; pre-entries are now closed but entries anytime over the weekend are still most welcome. No need to download a form just turn up and surprise us with your AMC/Rambler. We like surprises Wink
Anyone who has already posted theirs will still be processed.

Itinery;
This is only a loose itinery based on the Chrysler program on the entry forms. Car owners certainly don't have to follow this and by all means feel free to drive around and explore the sights of Albury/Wodonga with the odd main street cruise throughout the weekend. The locals will love it and won't know what types of cars they are cruising through town until the sunday LOL
Friday March 14
Check in for early birds from 6pm to 8pm down at the venue (Gateway lakes Wodonga) I will be down there to help out and introduce myself.
Saturday March 15
8pm; Check in for cars open
9am; Judging begins for those who have booked their car in for this
2.30; Everyone cruises out to the Kinross woolshed for the afternoon (AMC owners, if we want, can cruise over to the StIves restaraunt over the road from show venue at about 1pm-ish for lunch? There is ample parking for our cars.)
5pm; We then all meet up (Chryslers and AMC's) at the Kinross for a cruise around the weir, Wodonga etc with all the Chrysler guys and girls. Should be fun.
7pm; All the cars meet up at the SS&A club carpark which is put aside for the night for a free Chrysler seminar and band. If you don't want to do this AMC owners can meet up at Bob Jane TMarts across the road from McDonalds at 7pm-ish where we can just hang out and relax and chat before the big day
Sunday
7.30pm; This is it!!!!  gate's open to enter and check in (if you havn't already done so)for the 1st annual Australian AMC/Rambler show Thumbs Up
11am; Check in closes and time to just relax and enjoy the show
2pm; Trophies
5pm; GATES CLOSE Cry We all leave with big cheesy grins at having been at the biggest AMC show ever in Australia Big smile you can certainly leave earlier then this if you need to.

The above is only a guide and not something you have to stick to. Many Chrysler owners just do their own thing all weekend exploring Albury/Wodonga and then relax at the show on the sunday. The two AMC specific times if you want to are St Ives for lunch at 1pm-ish on the Saturday and Bob Jane Tmarts (across from Macca's) at 7pm-ish for an easy dinner on the saturday night

All up I hope everyone has a fun relaxing weekend and enjoy's seeing, and
meeting up with, other AMC/Rambler cars and owners Tongue

I am really looking forward to this event. I wont be able to bring the Matador down so I am keen to meet other owners to chat over what I can do with mine etc. And just to talk to like minded folks. We're staying both Sat and Sun nights so keen to see what cars turn up.   Cheers

If you are after any parts Jeff from Ramblerspares is going to hold a swap meet site in the AMC section with a heap of AMC/Rambler parts for various cars and both NOS and 2nd hand. He used to own a late model Matador too (one of the last AMI assembled I think?) so if you are after anything he may be able to bring the items down for you. His email has been playijng up so best to ring on 02 98995041 or 0409 830203

I have been asked by a couple of people if they could try and sell their AMC/Rambler at the show which they most certainly can. If you, or a friend, has an AMC/Rambler to sell what better place then to bring it to the show with a 'For Sale' sign in the window. If the car is registered then you only need to enter it for the show as per normal but if car is unregistered you will need to enter it as a 'swap meet site' and you will be able to display it in the swap section of the AMC/Rambler show which is just next to all the other AMC cars on show Smile win/win.

If you enter as a swap meet site please make sure you indicate "to display in AMC/Rambler section" somewhere on entry form or via emailed entry form thanks

Also it sounds a lot to me like a round-about way of getting a 'not for sale' unregistered car into the show too Wink

Hi everyone
Only just over 2 weeks to go Tongue
Talking to AMC owners over the last few weeks many hadn't heard of this forum (although they have now Smile). This forum thread is going to be the main, and easiest, avenue for me to put up updates etc for the show right up until the sunday morning so if you know someone who is coming down or thinking of coming down please copy the link and paste it into an email for them to read and keep up to date and even add some input if they wish. Of course not everyone has access to the internet in which case I will have to rely on your word of mouth to inform other owners what is happening.

One piece of input I am after at the moment is how we want to park the cars. I was initially dead against lining them up as each model ie line of Javelins, line of Hornets etc as when they do that at some shows by the time you looked at a couple of GT's or whatever you've seen them all and couldn't be bothered looking at anymore. But our cars are much more rarer and unique then that and there won't be huge lines of any particular model like the GT's or Chargers at other shows so I am thinking grouping each model together which would not only look spectacular but would provide great photo oppurtunities for each model. What do people think?

Also I have heard a murmur (is that how you spell that word? LOL) that there is ANOTHER registered Gremlin possibly making the trip!! Wink Pity yours wasn't going GremX or we could have had a hat trick Tongue maybe next year

Also a fellow I talked to the other day knows Ray Sprague so he is going to contact him and see if he wants to come along. Ray has a long history with AMC/AMI and it would be great to see his cars and have a chat with him. Would be very interesting

See you soon. Jason Tongue

What about lining them up corresponding to their year of manufacture. That way you may get a good spread of what was on offer from AMC/Rambler for a particular model year.

Posted By: 70Hornet
Date Posted: Feb/26/2014 at 7:27pm
Keep the suggestions coming. That way I have plenty of time to have a think and weigh up the pro's and con's of each Smile

I just heard on the grapevine a registered AMC Concorde put in an entry form yesterday. Wow I have never seen one in person! Smile

I still havn't heard of any AMX's, Eagle, Pacer or 50's AMC's yet so if you know someone with one please let them know we would love to have them show it off at the show no matter what the condition it is in Tongue

Also if you have an AMC/Rambler for sale that is unregistered, apparently it is only $20 to have it in the AMC swapmeet part of the show on the sunday for those interested. Jeffs Ramblerspares swap site will be next to our AMC tent and Gordon Pendlebury's Madame Lash hearse display if he is able to make it will go next to that and any other AMC swap site's then we will line up any unregistered AMC/Ramblers for sale. Registered 'for sale' cars can be in with the main cars or with the other unrego cars whichever they choose on the day but are entered as part of the show Smile

I spoke to gordon pendlebury today, he is struggling to finish of his new trailer to carry the matador in but he is giving a good crack at it. His picking up some springs to lift the car of the ground a little as the old ones are flat as a tack from the fire.

Hi everyone

I just thought I would put up a short list of extra curricular activities for people who may not necessarily want to be around the cars all weekend and would rather explore Albury/Wodonga. Also a good list to help keep partners and kids busy over the weekend if they aren’t totally into the cars.

There are places to visit such as Bandiana army museum, Revheads slot car racing (great fun!), the hume dam, albury pools, ten pin bowling, Cinema centre, Library museum (The Phantom comic book display is in it's last weekend 15th/16th March), famous Murray river farmers market on Saturday 8am-12 in Wodonga,.

Also on the saturday, or maybe even the Sunday if your partner and kids get a bit toey and looking for something extra to do on top of the kids rides, and looking at cool cars at the show there is, just over the road from the venue, the Albury info centre, St Ives restauraunt, Harvey’s Fun Park (water slides, jumping castle, mini golf etc just couple of hundred metres from show and only $10 for the whole day!). There is also the huge Oddies creek kids playground just a short walk over the bridge. (Oddies creek was where the show used to be until it out-grew the venue). There is also the miniature railway rides which kids love also only a few hundreds metres from the show on the causeway and maybe even some remote controlled car racing (but don’t quote me on that one). And apparently there are some real steam train rides happening over the weekend in Albury with a genuine 1902 Steam Train coming into town doing short trips around the area on the Saturday and Sunday. There is heaps more other stuff to do in Albury over the weekend with plenty of eateries, pubs, clubs etc plus I think there is a live play in the botanic gardens on the Saturday night etc. To find out more your best bet would be to ring the Albury info centre or have a search on the net but there is certainly no shortage of things to do for yourself and accompanying visitors over the weekend or you could simply just enjoy a relaxing weekend surrounded by cool cars and people and also enjoy some main street cruising.

See you soon Wink

I will be making the trip up from Adelaide. unfortunately without a Rambler this time, the comfort, reliabilty and economy of a late model Accord has won out over driving the hornet up

looking forward to seeing lots of ramblers, the most ive ever seen assembled is 2 cars, and that was in my shed!

I have had a couple of people ring about just coming over from Adelaide for a look which is great Smile. One of the fella's used to own an Rambler way back in the 70's and just wants to reminisce. We also have at least 2 cars that I know of driving over from Adelaide too. A Javelin and a Classic. I don't think it is too bad a drive to Albury from Adelaide. I remember doing it in late 90's on the way up to Alice Springs in an old HQ Holden. I had a great time.

When you rock up in your AMC/Ramblers on the friday, saturday or sunday to enter or check-in please inform those at the gate that you are an AMC and can you be directed to the AMC section. Some of the gate crews are local SES and Firey's so they may not immediatly recognise your car as an AMC.

I will also update on this forum any weather updates right up until about 6am on the sunday morning.

AMC's to be represented at show so far that I know of are Classic's, Javelin's, Rebel's, Matador's, a Matador X, Hornet's, a Concorde, maybe 2 Gremlins Wink, Ambassodor's and possibly a Pacer, Marlin and a Nash Metropolitan. There is about 35 known cars coming to the show and there is still just over a week to go so it's looking good to crack the 50 Tongue. The more the merrier and they are just the one's I know of. Don't be scared to bring your AMC/Rambler up, across or down depending on where you are coming from and be a part of it  Smile Although I still havn't heard from any AMX owners, or Eagle's or I just realised I havn't heard of any American's, wow? Pokerchip? Wink So if you know someone with one of these in ANY condition please let them know we would love to have them at the show so we can show Australia ALL of the great cars AMC made over the years Tongue

Not long now! Tongue

PS I will admit I am getting desperate for an AMX to be at the show LOL. There was a dark green one here about 5 years ago which got an amazing amount of attention. Would love to have a least one example, or five or more AMX's Big smile

he he see you all soon Cool

Hi Mick. Siesta resort is a good place to stay. I am not sure where everyone else is booked in though? Albury is a big place so there shouldn't be any dramas with booking in late and the good thing about Albury/Wodonga is that no matter where you stay the furthest from the venue you will be is about 10minutes. I wish I had some extra time over the weekend to come and give you a run on the slot car track Smile

Just a note for everyone there is an itinery on page 9 of this thread which you can follow some, none, or all of depending on what you want to do over the weekend.

Wow only a few days to go! Tongue

Today I started to polish up the 63 wagon, tough work as I'm concentrating on stainless, chrome and alloy parts. This will take me 2 days after work Hours. Wednesday and Thursday will be the rest including polishing up the 30 year old enamel paint (hard as rock type of paint), windows, tyres and interior. Then pack up the car on Friday. Very much looking forward to the big trip.
