Does anyone have the part number for a 66 American 232 Fuel Pump w/ the Vacuum pump on it? None of the parts stores here have one with the vacuum pump. It is a Carter but I can't find a number on the body itself anywhere.
Thanks, Tom

Go to kennedyamerican.com and enter your car's info then go to the fuel section and it should be listed. As far as part numbers I don't have any, sorry.

Good site, but $180 is a little steep for a fuel pump isn't it? I finally did find a number under all that oil buildup, it is a Carter and is stamped with 3943S on the flange where it meets the block. Any ideas if this number converts to a newer number? I searched around Google and didn't find much of anything.

Is it possible to use a carter pump from a ford and just swap out the actuation lever? They use the same gasket, so the bolt spacing should be the same. Go to rockauto, lookup a 61 Ford falcon, 170 and vacuum wipers to see it. Less then 70 bucks.

You can have yours rebuilt. http://www.then-now.com/ - http://www.then-now.com did one for me a few years ago and it was less than $100. I forget how long it took exactly but it was less than two weeks. They also sell rebuild kits if you want to tackle it yourself.
I just took a look at Kennedy's site and I see two vacuum wiper pumps listed. One if $189 and the other (FS0093) is $89. I have a few year old catalog that has the cheaper listed so the difference may be NOS vs. aftermarket.

I caught that on Kennedy's site and e-mailed them about it, I would pay $90 for a new / reman pump. I may look into rebuilding mine or swapping the arm off of a different model. I will post back with what I find.
Thanks, Tom

Here is the email I got back from Kennedy's:
Tom,
3206148 is a new old stock original Carter fuel
pump with the fuel filter bowl on the bottom of the pump, this is the exact pump
that came new on your car. We only have 1 available. The FS0093 is still a
Carter pump but is a newer style (no fuel filter bowl) but replaces all vacuum
wiper fuel pumps (double action) on the 199,232,258 engines.
Thanks,
Jeff
Any idea what that the newer style carter part number might be? FS0093 isn't crossing to anything that I can find.
Thanks, Tom

If it crossed directly to anything other than an AMC, there would be a warehouse full of them.

FS0093 is Jeff's part number. FS = Fuel System.
Also, the number you posted earlier: 3943S is the model number of your fuel pump. The pump should have a date code stamped on the other mounting ear in the same position as the model number. It will be a letter, a dash, and a number. Mine is stamped K-6 (October 1966).

I too had this dilemma with my 1966 American 440 . But I opted for the Master Part No. 3850 fuel pump , and did the electric wiper motor swap . I still have to upload the pics , as well as a nice summary as to what I did .

I sent you a PM, could you e-mail me your photos and maybe describe what parts you got and the swap? (Didn't want to put my e-mail here and have it get indexed, but it my user name at gmail.com). I can do the wiring I'm more interested in did you use a factory switch or did you have to wire one up yourself? Did you use a stock electric motor or did you find one of the "Ford compatible" ones?
Thanks, Tom

Are you sure it was 3850? I can't find that part number on any of the sites.
Thanks, Tom

I would listen to the guys on here , as they have a lot of valid points . $100 isn't too bad for a NOS fuel pump . Here's which fuel pump I bought :
My apologies as it was Part No. 3805 from Master .

I have just pulled my '67 232 for a 343.
The 232 has 22,000 miles on it since the rebuild.
There are 1.5 summers on the new alternator, carb, fuel pump, etc. all were new then.
Let me know if you would be interested in anything.
The 232 1bbl was a great motor .

I wonder, does NOS indicate that it has not been rebuilt? Would the gaskets and pumps still be good?

I ended up rebuilding mine with the kit from Then and Now automotive. I didn't have all the tools needed to do the check valves so I ended up shipping it to him anyway. Price was reasonable.
