My flywheel bolts are too long , could I use the star shaped spacer from a auto flex plate to give the bolts clearance ? Or just buy new 1/2  ARP long bolts ?

Don't use a spacer- the hub on the clutch disk uses that space. Get the correct bolts. Pontiac bolts are slightly longer than AMC but will work.

Get familiar with all our AMC-specific vendors who are knowingly committed to 'going the extra mile' for all us other AMCers who need to buy correct parts for our less popular but otherwise excellent cars.

-see 'vendors' section right here on AMC Forum

Today I found out my Hayes flywheel is almost 3/16 thinner at the bolt flange vs stock that is why 1 inch bolts slightly hit block .Jeep 4.0 bolts are 7/8 ordered a set today.
