Hi from UK.
In feb this year I bought a 73 Gucci sportabout. It has been in the uk since around 83 and was laid up in a barn for around 20 years until being re-commissioned by a previous owner. Luckily the car has a very solid underside, but the body is a bit rough in places as previous owners tried to "preserve the patina", which actually turned out to be rust....bad rust. I have been repairing the rusted areas while trying to retain as much original paint as possible . Getting a good paint match is just about impossible , so I have decided to go with a worn out "patina style" paintjob to disguise the miss matching rather than go for a time consuming and expensive resto that would need the wood trim and chrome replacing to make it look right. The interior is pretty good and original , with a tear in the drivers seat and a few marks on the irreplaceable headliner. I believe this is a  rare car, being a V8 with D/L and XPACK options, finished in fawn beige, any help with history or numbers on my spec car would be useful,,,,also any tips on posting pics I cant seem to post any  being an old fart technophobe , cant fins a URL on my pics

I’m a hornet guy and enjoy the unusual car such as yours. Good luck getting it back to its former glory

That car is nice enough and rare enough to deserve a good paint job.

nice looking Sportabout! I agree. We all need to stick together. I recently picked up a 77 Sportabout Wagon.

Well, the wood trim doesn't look that bad. You could always just mask off the wood trim and surrounding chrome and just have the upper and lower areas painted. While a full paint job is preferred, that might be a good alternative.

Cool car, I like that the interior is still complete. I was curious of how many Gucci interior AMC’s were made?

I think it was around 5000 in total over the 2 years, but only about 10%-15% were V8 versions like mine

That is Awesome!  This is the complete package as a wagon lover!!!  The vinyl is available on e-bay and a few dealers.  It's the same as the Eagle in pattern.  Keep up the good work and share those pictures.
Blessings
Richard
