I'm building a 360 with forged rods and pistons. 10.5 to one compression and I am wanting to run a blow through Carb set up on low boost. Probabaly looking at 6 psi tops. And water/method injection and intercooler to try to keep intake temps down. I decided I want to run a single turbo instead of twin but I Dnt even know were in start in picking what size and type of turbo I want to run. Anyone been there and back or have any suggestions. Seems like everyone runs twin set up, but if I were to choose a good turbo and set it up properly I Dnt see why I couldn't run a single just fine

HP Books sells a Turbo blower book. Mine is about 100 years old ok maybe 20 so thinking there has to be updates to it. Also check the web to see what you can find for other forums that are just for turbos & blowers. The more you know the better off you will be.
As for a 10.5 compression I am going to say you are starting off too high. From what I remember and heard you want to start off lower down about 8 to 8.5 this way you can add more boost with out needing to beef up the motor with more head bolts, head gaskets, etc.
Then again I could be talking out my back side
Keep us posted on what you do.

www.theturboforums.com will be your friend. 10.5:1 is too much compression unless you're running e85. The single vs twins debate is played out. Properly sized, a single will spool just as fast as twins and make the same power. Just twins are a little easier to fit and the plumbing is easier.

I have a Mazda miata with a 1.8 motor with 10 to one factory compression and the internals are bone stock. I run 7 lbs of boost on pump gas and never have any detonation problems or any knock retard from the computer. So I figured 10.5 to one on a properly tuned setup on no more than 6 psi would probably be ok. That's why I went with forged pistons and rods and arp head and main studs. Now u guys got me a little more nervous though hahaha

Also I have seen lots of people Supercharge and turbo Honda s2000 and they have 11 to one factory. And they have 6 psi kits that seem to work pretty well with their tuning stuff

You can't compare a modern designed engine to our old ones. In my experience with our motors, 10.5:1 is pushing it on pump gas without a turbo, assuming it's an iron head setup.

That's true. I was thinking maybe a fuel injector in the Carb bonnet for when under boost and water/method injection would do the trick. Guess I will have to see how it runs and how prone it is to detonation after I get it running. Waiting on head studs and rockers and pushrods right now

There's much more to an engines ability to deal with boost pressure than static compression alone. head design, manifold design (intake and exhaust), fuel delivery method, ignition design, etc, all have huge effects. I have to get moving but if I remember I will elaborate later.
